[LFAQs-redacted-quote] People have weird hangups about sitting within X meters of the entrance to the entrance of the bathrooms. The reason this tends to be bad is that servers are assigned tables based on physical location (for efficiency's sake. No point in giving a server two tables at opposite ends of the restaurant), and because customers are sat in a rotation to make sure business for servers is distributed evenly/fairly. If they just move like, one table over, it's annoying but doable. If they move significantly further, it can become a problem. Like, one customer out of their section isn't too bad. But when multiple customers start getting stupid all at once, you get situations where either a) servers are running around the entire building, slowing down service for everyone, or b) servers are forced to give away or trade their tables with other servers for the sake of efficiency, but get less money because they get less tables to serve. Not to mention that on busy nights there is usually a reason a person isn't sat at a particular place, such as an incoming large party that needs to be sat across multiple tables. If a customer takes it upon themselves to change tables, there's a good chance they're taking a seat in the middle of a combined seating arrangement. As for "do people really _________?" yes. Whatever absolutely stupid scenario you can imagine, people really do. Working in customer service is like living in an episode of goddamn Seinfeld. tl;dr: we live in a society --- Lusa Cfaad Taydr ... Copied to Clipboard!
