Like over the years, do you ever remember someone taking your text wrong or just misunderstanding you in general and when you tried to smooth it over, they reject it and just keep acting shitty?

This hasn't happened to me a lot. Maybe 3 times in 20 years, but most of my friends are normies so they have no idea where I'm coming from when I ask about this kinda thing. At least not in the way you guys probably do.

Anywho, I always let it bother me because I try to be super polite and gentlemanly in the sparse social interactions I've had online. I usually avoid multi-player games, but when I play MMOs it's hard to avoid it 100% of the time.

I guess I shouldn't give a damn because it's obviously not my intent to give it like they are taking it. Sometimes it almost feels like I was manipulated though. I didn't used to think about it like that until I started reading books about statecraft.

I don't have much of an intuitive mind for deception. I never have. I'd be a terrible scammer. But anyway. I think it's just the nature of text. Sometimes people are just going to read it wrong.

Any stories you guys can share? Was wondering if any of them are relatable. Any really polite people out there and yet it still happens? Sometimes you just can't win with people.

(What reminded me of this? I saw an ad on tiktok for a mobile game it happened on from almost 2 years ago.)

I try to avoid texting at all costs unless it's something simple, you can't have meaningful conversations and it takes too much of what is required for quality human interaction away, I tried having an emotional conversation over text once but I came away feeling like I bothced it really fucking hard because I couldn't sense the other persons emotions and feeling son th ematter adn I feel I ruined a relationship because of it. I also may sound like an old man but I can't stand how every goddamn word seemingly has some kind of abrreviation, like I look at what people text each other and I can barely decipher it.

Again texting is just awful all around for anything that's isn't a yes/no type of question or similar.

I generally just leave a conversation/disagreement when someones response is "excuse me, you spelled this word wrong".

It's fairly easy to tell when someone's just being an ass, and you can just fuck off because there's nothing good that's going to be said.

You forgot to put an apostrophe in "someone's".

There seem to be several people on this board that are quick to bring up every time I've held the wrong opinion.

It's happened to me a few times, and I soon stopped communicating with those people. For awhile, I was against joining online communities because of them.

People are strange.

Especially when you're a stranger.

And faces look ugly when you're alone.

Yeah I remember some dude on a fire emblem forum being like "I wish they'd release the Japanese only games in the us" so I was like they have rom hacks and reproduction cartridges if you want that and those work great and he said that was stupid because he can already speak Japanese. Like what? Buy the games then, what's the issue?

Fairly often. Last time I apologized for a joke that someone didn't like, the guy took the apology as a sign of guilt and threatened to find out where I live.
