His dad would beat him and his brothers, and they'd have to work extremely long, cruel hours to perfect their performance as the Jackson Five.

When Michael's talent became apparent and he became the standout of the group, I imagine he received the most scrutiny out of the bunch - from 5 onwards, he was probably spending the most time being molded into a marketable celebrity. His talent probably paid his family's bills before he was even ten years old.

As he grew up and became a celebrity superstar, every aspect of his life was controlled by his father and whatever team of music industry fixers were there to keep that gravy train rolling. There are rumours that they used hormone-suppressing chemicals to prevent him from aging out of his voice, because puberty was one of the most crucial make-or-break aspects of being a child star. These rumours are fuelled by MJ barely aging - in appearance and in voice - compared to his contemporaries at the time.

By the time of Thriller, he was surrounded by so many yes-men and industry people leeching off of him that he probably didn't even live in the real world any more. He had a pet monkey. He had mansions. Rumor has it that he would pay an entire day's operational cost to a supermarket just so he could go shopping and experience normalcy, even though it was a bought simulation.

I think Neverland Ranch and the behavior he exhibited around children says it all. He was never allowed to be a child. He had as much life experience at 30 as he did at 5. All he knew was performance and abuse, and in trying to recapture what he had been denied, his actions disturbed a lot of young children and caused problems for them going forward.

He suffered from a disease that made his skin lose its melanin, and his fucking hair and face caught fire on the set of a Pepsi commercial. He made friends with other child stars like Macaulay Culkin - a figure who describes being made to sleep on the couch while his movies made tens of millions of dollars, because his father had been a failed actor and abused his sons to exert what little control he had in his life. Culkin still defends MJ to this day, because they had a kinship.

That's what makes the weird kid shit so sad, because I honestly don't think MJ was out to harm anyone or take advantage of children or feed some gross perversion. I think he had been so deprived of a life that he saw Neverland Ranch as a second childhood, and he behaved innocently as a child would. But when you're an actual child, and you're feeding the deranged fantasy of a grown man? To the point of sleeping in the same bed as that total stranger? That shit is incredibly damaging. I think it's a case of an incredibly damaged man with good intentions disturbing a lot of young children for life. There was no winning for anyone involved. Everybody lost.

To sum it up - I think MJ was such a weirdo because he was abused severely from a young age, and he was isolated from the outside world for pretty much all of his life. I don't think he ever intended to be a weirdo or hurt anybody. I think abuse, isolation and being used as a tool rather than being treated as a person is what made him a weirdo.

His father was abusive as fuck, plus vitiligo fucking with your mind (which i can personally attest), along with nobody giving a shit about mental illness.

childhood abuse. if you know you know

add to that he was a child star which comes with its own set of complexes like NEVER knowing what a normal average life is like

watch the video of him shopping at a fake grocery store just to taste what normal living is. its crippling in how sad and painful it is.

whenever i think of michael jackson my heart really does goes out to him and i think of the quote from janis joplin

On stage, I make love to 25,000 different people, then I go home alone.

I agree, but its interesting elvis did the exact same shit. He'd have slumber parties with like 14 year old girls , and pillow fight and get close with them, for some reason thats not talked about as much

Probably because no-one knows about it, which I say because this is my first time hearing about it. That's fucked up.

Everyone knows Elvis had a thing for underage girls. It's not talked about as much as MJ because MJ is more recent

As far as his skin goes that was a skin condition. Nothing that he was doing himself. He also suffered from insomnia which i believe in part played an indirect role in his death. Meaning his doctor would put him in a coma to get him some sleep. But my understanding is that is not sleep when you do that. Bad doctor.

Michael was weird because he had to wait until he was an adult to have a childhood. For something similar look at Miley Cyrus she had to wait until she was an adult to have an adolescence and look at how that turned out.

I wanna make a joke, because MJ is a low hanging fruit, but there's the chance he really hurt some people whether he was really mentally ill or not. There's also a possibility that he didnt, which is equally disturbing
