Yeah That is a very valid discussion to have but not NOW. The Rights actions reek of desperation as you say. If she just rolled over on this, it would show it is okay to act like the Right is doing. Im so happy that she is PM right now.

He was caught openly lying several times, about several things.
I admit i don't quite understand this fully, but this isn't "cause they just don't like him"
The timing is cause the KU (Constitution Committe) just slapped him down for lying for like the 17th time or something

If anyone is being irresponsible here, it's the SocDems, as this VONC is directed at one completely incompetent man, there is absolutely no reason why it has to turn into a life-or-death fight for the entire Government, other than Magdalenas ego making it so

The SocDems the ones turning the NATO application and Swedish security into party politics here, not the Right.
Which is a bit odd when you think about it, as the Left fought tooth and nail to stay out of NATO all these years, now suddenly the application depends on whether they stay in power or not?

What's really wild imo is that Johansson is a very right wing SocDem, and has been essentially doing a lot of things that the right should like, and would do themselves if they had power. Still they're gonna do a vote of no confidence. It's like last year when C and L complained a lot, despite the govt essentially having implemented their platform for them.

There is something to be said for SD's insistent votes of no confidence. Since they got into Parliament, they've been doing these things like ten times more often than normal. One way to view this is that they're abusing the system for optics. Another is that the rest of Parliament haven't been using the option enough. My guess is that the "truth" here is somewhere in the middle.

i'm not really well versed in the minutiae of it, what has he been doing that the right would like so much?

all i've seen is the soundbites, the "it's not our fault despite being in power for so long" "blame the problems on someone else, i take no responsibility",
the "i will resign before joining NATO" followed by him then apparently being super important to joining NATO, and the headlines of "Morgan is reported to KU for outright lying"

but his day to day politics, i know very little about

Well hasn't he generally been upping the rhetoric and decisions to match the right's calls for tuffare tag and so on? Like, I know he's pretty despised from the left for this. S are essentially playing along with the right's fear mongering. He took a hard stance on immigration when he was the minister of that as well. Generally speaking he's from the central party establishment that is a lot more right leaning social liberals than the workers movement grassroots.

It is the same as last time, both sides got the same ammount of votes and her vote can be the one that decides it.
Hopefully both her and MP wont get in next election.

Kakabaveh shouldn't get in next election, since she got excluded from V. On the other hand, she's likely gained a lot of fans just by being principled in these vgmstar scenarios. And I mean, Turkey wanted her extradited some week ago. Of course she's gonna use whatever influence she has to help Kurds.

Surely that's a pretty weak consolidation for Kakabaveh. Anyway I'm not suggesting that her opposition to Turkey is motivated solely by this diplomat - the point was to illustrate that the Turkish threat towards Kurds, both in Rojava and in Sweden, is very real and it should be easy to understand that she would use whatever influence she has to work against it. And while I don't expect her to get enough support to stay in Parliament as an independent, I could well imagine that this opposition actually makes her more popular.

This topic got several posts during the weekend, while I were away traveling, so I ignored it then but here is some form of summary.

Also the NATO quote posted earlier was uttered by Peter Hultqvist, not by Morgan Johansson. Will Hultqvist be VONCd next? Ebba Buschs comments during Sundays debate are more or less proof that the opposition is weaponizing the VONC for party politics. Promising to not use it again if Morgan had stepped down is wrong on many levels, since it would then give the Government a free check to literally break the law unpunished.

Morgan lying on Twitter and such is a gissel to use a Swedish word. But SDs reasoning was due to the Governments politics which make it a VONC against the entire Government. Ulf Kristersson, who aspire to become PM, did not mention lying in a TV interview on the day the VONC was levied. Instead he said I havent had confidence in him for the past 8 years. That is not what the misstroende in misstroendeomrstning mean.

This ledare mix in some opinions but the fact about a VONC against politics is a VONC against the entire Government is there:

Also, Morgan Johansson somehow manage to both be so influential that he needs to go based on gang shootings but also just one man and therefore not important for the NATO-application. Even though he is responsible for it together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense. If a Minister quits or is replaced due to an election there is a transition period where the new Minister is introduced to everything. With a successful VONC the minister is ousted right away and the seat is empty. In this case it would have meant that one of the key people in the ongoing discussions with the Turks would suddenly be gone. Morgan is involved due to the counterterrorism aspect Ankara express concerns about.

I am not that up to date on the money-eating-hole that is SAS. What is happening? The VONC vote consumed my news focus.

The two biggest SAS owners are the Swedish (14,8 %) and Danish (14,2 %) government.
SAS wanted more money and the Swedish Government said "We have already given you 8 billion kronor in a short period of time, you get no more from us. You know what, we are going to start selling our shares, perhaps we can get enough money to buy a postage stamp.".

SAS has been a dumpster fire for quite some time. And hey, you guys got us the PostNord diaper! If there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that our countries will screw each other over given the chance.

To be fair, I would prefer if PostNord got a lot of money thrown into it to improve even if it's a blackhole. There should be a decent nationalized postal service even if it runs at a loss.
