So how did I become poor and stay poor despite making six figures? I never understood it too, and I thought it was just them being dumb lol.

). Last summer I quit my dead end job because they opened the office back up and I was in a different state. I valued my mental health and had a good amount savings, so I decided to ride it out for a few months. Ironically, this wasn't the part that broke me.

). I took a chance with a job that promised a lot of money and it seemed legit.

). WRONG, the job was a boiler room wolf of Wall Street chop shop and the pay was 40k base with a terrible commute. I thought I would be making commission within a few months, but it was all a disguised lie.

). During this job, I was expending my own money to take people out, driving across Texas daily including commuting, and I developed a bad habit from the stress of this job. Technically, I was basically making 20k after all of this bull shvt and I still had expenses from my previous job. I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck at my previous job, but going from 100k to 20k is a steep jump regardless. Furthermore, I had a crappy GF that didn't help my situation as well.

). By New Year, I woke up and realized that if I don't find a new job by April then I won't have any money or credit left to use lol. I started applying for jobs and I dumped my toxic liability GF lol.

). Got a New job in March making more money than the first job I left and it's WFH...YAY ME! so I'm just going to minimize my expenses until I'm able to get back on my feet.

). Enter Murphy's law- Just a few examples: Record Inflation, I owe taxes to the IRS for the first time in my life, my rent hikes up and I have to move, my car decides to act up, Verizon screws me over in a payoff switch, my commissions check gets delayed and apparently I was on quarter 1 for 2 weeks, I have to go on some expensive company retreat my 2nd week of working, I discover the 3 dollar special at McDonald's which is a good deal(I also understand that they don't pay their employees to take sick leave and I possibly catch the flu from it and miss 3 days of work).

). Again, those were just a few examples, but when you are maxed out on nearly every credit card, no money in savings, and trying to catch up on things, ******** Dave Ramsey can't even help you in this situation. No matter what you do, Murphy's law comes knocking at his door with a hot pile of dog **** in a paper bag for you to step on.
