s0nicfan 06/02/22 12:47:09 PM #1:	Not just the usual lootboxes and premium currency, but THREE battlepasses, a pseudo-subscription system, $15 cosmetics, a gem system that gates the highest tiers (and thus the biggest player power) behind either a paywall or an obscene wait, an "awakening" system where you have to pay real money to fully unlock a gem's ability, AND a "resonance" system that you have to invest in as well to give that awakened gem more abilities. Level and Gear stat bonuses are basically trivial compared to gem bonuses, but you can't even get 5-star gems unless you use a special limited item which you of course can buy, and those gems needs to be fused, awakened, and resonated to fully unlock. People are doing the math and getting a single character to maxed out 5/5 5-star fully awakened gems could cost over $100,000 It's like Blizzard has just said "fuck it, let's just drain out fanbase dry before they all quit anyway." Oh, and it has facial recognition software and other tracking programs embedded in the western version because it's NetEase and China. EDIT: You can't even collect your free daily reward unless you go into the store so they can barrage you with "limited time" deals. Rather than opening a box to get a reward, you open a rift to fight a couple of enemies to get a reward, but the quality of your reward depends on what you slot into that rift. By default you can only get common two or three star gems from a rift, but if you put in a legendary item in the slot you have the opportunity of maybe getting a five-star gem. The problem is that the item you need to open a legendary rift is something you only get a couple of per month, but you can buy as many as you want. Five star gems can also come with a rating of 1 to 5. To upgrade your rating you need to fuse it with other gems with the same number of slots, meaning to get a 5/5 five star gem you need to luck out on getting five of them to fuse. Then you need to awaken it and then resonate with it to unlock its remaining abilities, one of which can only be done with the equivalent of like $13 in premium currency.
