I was researching wasps recently (because I think I might have a wasp nest in my attic, but I'll be damned if I wanted to go up there and actually look around to try and find it).

From what I was reading, you can apparently make a spray out of just dish soap and water that will kill them pretty effectively if you soak them down with it, without having to go out and buy strong repellent or poison spray. Apparently soapy water fucks with their pores or something.

You can also apparently put peppermint or wintermint out and plant it around your yard to annoy wasps and keep them away, so they don't make nests around your house.

No clue how well any of this works, but it seems to show up on a lot of sites that have advice on how to deal with pests.

Do what I did and kill them all with a tennis racket. Surprisingly effective and fun.

Get one of those bug zapper tennis rackets, where you electrocute them when you hit them.

What's the downside of the poison spray? Dead hornets > mad hornets.

I actually discovered I was developing a bee allergy around the time we found a couple of hornet hives near my house. I considered hiring an exterminator, but they charge $200 to come out and spray it once - they don't even remove the hive. So I bought a beekeepers suit for $80 online and a $5 can of poison spray. My neighbors laughed at me, but the hornets are dead, the hive is gone, and I am unaffected.

And one of said neighbors borrowed the suit from me later that year.

If you don't remove it, I suppose...although I'd be more worried about a dog. Still, that's why you remove it.

That's exactly what I used, haha.

I broke it into 5 pieces when I hit something and had to retreat, but I came back.
