I got it once in my playthrough. It's not worth it since it only gives +30 ATK and Poo is plenty strong without it.

When trying to get the sword to drop, you also grind quite a bit and you always get over leveled trying to get it which makes things even easier and you definitely don't need the sword then.

Yes, because I'm a completionist, and tbh that wasn't even really all that difficult to do compared to some other rare crap in games like this I've farmed for.

I mustve lucked out because I got mine without having to farm for one.

I played through and beat Earthbound again last year on my actual SNES, and managed to get it for the first time. I had beaten the game probably 3-4 times before but never got it until then.

Was surprised the cartridge still holds saves being over 25 years old now

Yep. Last time it took me 173 battles.

It's pretty annoying because you can encounter those self healing bots that also burst when it dies and does aoe damage to your party.

One time I farmed for 2 hours to get one. By the time I got it, it made the rest of the game trivial from all the leveling. It wasnt the first time I beat it but its probably the last time I'll go out of my way for it.

Have Poo mirror them and he will full heal party members.

Never got that far. I got to around the fifth melody and then got bored.

Super overrated game.

Yeah, once or twice. Definitely not on every play through.

Im somewhat of a completionist, but for games like EB that have relatively limited inventory slots I tend to let it slide.

Yep, each time. It's not that hard with save states. And he really needs it because it's the only weapon his bitch ass can equip without becoming weaker.

It was the only thing I had yet to collect in any of my playthroughs, so I got it exactly once in my most recent playthrough. In the process, I managed to grind my characters to well over level 70.

Only ever with save states. The rest of the game is just about tolerable without them, but grinding a 1/128 chance in an area with obnoxious enemies? Naw man.

How do item drops work? Like is it generated after the enemy is defeated or when you initiate the battle?

Usually, the item drop is generated as soon as the enemy spawns, but you can do some light RNG manipulation (such as opening and closing the menu a few times) to re-roll that item before you trigger the battle.

I remember grinding for it for about 3 hours before giving up. Ironically I became so overleveled the rest of the game became really easy

I got it after 90 minutes.

I've gotten it twice. Shortest time, for me was over an hour. The longest was 5 hours.

Anytime I do a playthrough anymore I give it 45 minutes, say screw it and move on.
