actually this is what ruin fragments or whatever those crystal gems are called are for. you drop them off the ledge and if its fatal damage you can hear them shatter

If you need a rock to tell you not to throw yourselves off a cliff into a bottomless pit, I'm not sure the rock is going to help you.

White ghosts are just other players. Red ghosts are snapshots of players that died.

From what recall, you will never be required to jump. There's just a few edges in the final area of the game but you can see where you'll land.

99% of the hidden path messages are fake. Just give the a thump and move in if it doesn't fade.

For summoning, go into your items and equip the jellyfish like you would the flasks or other usable items. You'll only be able to summon them when there a gravestone(?) Symbol on the left side of the screen.

Required? No. But there are definitely areas in the game that you can only get to by jumping.
