- Senior year of high school, I knew about some classmates who planned an elaborate plot to cheat on the physics final (I wasn't even in this class). This had nothing to do with a sense of moral outrage - I just hated that these particular students were obnoxious, arrogant, and self-assured that they'd get away with it, so I anonymously tipped off the teacher and he stopped it ahead of time. Students in question were in panic mode and I loved hearing about it.

I can't think of anything in the last ~15 years, unless you count catching students' plagiarism as a TA.

When I was in the seventh grade, I was a Nintendo fanboy to the highest degree. Like, as big as you could be. One day there was a kid playing his PSP in class, and I told the teacher on him. Not because he was playing a video game, or because I didn't like him, or because I was distracted, but purely because it was a PSP. The teacher confiscated the kid's PSP, and afterwards, he came over to my desk and broke all of my pencils in anger. When pressed as to why I did this, I responded "Because one less PSP being played is a victory for Nintendo".

Guy hit me in the head with a rock. Of course I yelled for someone to make sure the cops came. I don't know if that counts. I was already involved. I also switched my policy from never reporting people on GameFAQs to reporting them if they deserve it, but nobody ever actually breaks the rules anymore.

And to answer the question, my most recent incident was reporting a paid moderator for brigading against me and banning me for absolutely no reason. He was reprimanded (violating the rules you're PAID to enforce will do that) and I do think if those behaviors continue, he will be terminated. I now boycott the site in question entirely (and this was a place I once Patreoned for).

I did this several times when I was young and being pushed around. Eventually the jerks stopped pushing me around, because 1) my mom worked at the high school as an Educational Assistant and they were afraid of her and 2) they knew I'd report anything and they'd get a detention.

Nowadays I don't go to HR at jobs for little things because I don't think they're a big deal. I don't really do this much anymore, honestly.

The closest thing I can think of off the top of my head is catching kids cheating on homework as a TA (probably would have let it slide if it wasnt for the format of the class; their grade was almost entirely based on the quite difficult homework, and there was some bizarre notation that several students used which led me to discover that they were copying from some solutions online). We had also sent out a warning email earlier in the semester clarifying the collaboration policy because I was pretty certain some kids were copying each others homework and I hoped it would get them to knock it off without needing to resort to punishing them.

I've called police on people at my workplace many times. Sometimes it's as benign as a homeless sleeping in a place that won't bother anyone, but it's literally my job not to allow that so I need to get rid of them.

When I worked at a coffee place I got called in to work a Sunday because 2 or 3 people called in sick

We were still understaffed and it was by far the most brutal shift I ever had there.

Got home and saw on FB one of the ones that called in sick had been to the gym and was generally having a grand old time with their day

I was livid so I reported that one to the manager.

I "ratted out" own of my roommates to the leasing company last year. Not out of any moral obligation - she was just a total fuckup of a person and I'm happy to have her not in my life. I have never felt more unsafe in my life than when I lived with her. She in her boyfriend got in fights all the time, to the point where they broke the TV and blood was splattered on the walls.

Other bad behavior: they brought a rabbit into the apartment without telling anyone, they smoked inside and discarded their cigarettes on the floor, they posted my contact info online and told people to harass me, and constantly watched Spongebob Squarepants late at night when I was trying to sleep.
