I've been getting back into reading again after a slight hiatus (I blame my Nintendo Switch, which I recently got).

I've been pretty obsessed with reading about Greek myths lately. Been reading this book:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/4/3/AAaB-xAADRML.jpg

It's very comprehensive.

This book is fantastic as well. It's a retelling of the Iliad:

I enjoyed it. Though if you are an advanced reader, the stories might be too short for you. But for me, they are fine.

I've been listening to the audio books of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series when I drive in to work (though I only have a 10-15 minute drive into work, so it goes pretty slowly).
For actual reading, I've been going through a number of books about trans experiences (I just finished She's Not the Man I Married), though I think I'm going to start Douglas Adams' The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul tomorrow.

I love reading books and I'm ashamed I don't do it more often. The last book I read was a delightful book called "The Minotaur Takes A Cigarette Break." It is about The Minotraur of Greek mythology fame who is immortal and now 5,000 years later is working as a cook in North Carolina. It is told in such a fascinating way where no one fully acknowledges that this dude is a minotaur the way they should. It is more a series of vignettes about life. It is absolutely fantastic and I loved every minute of it.

it's been a long time since I actually bought a book. the last book I read though was solaris, I was pretty disappointed with it and then learned afterwards that the translation I'd read was panned by basically everyone, incluing the author, and there was a much better more modern one

I should have done my research :/

Last books I bought were Dark Matter by Michelle Paver, which is a really good period ghost story set in Svalbard, Norway, and The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan as I'm giving the Wheel of Time series a second shot. Haven't started the second of those two yet, I need to finish The Dragon Reborn which I have on hold for now

Not really; ever since I discovered video games they've held my interest better overall. They're more engaging for me and help me feel less like a mere spectator. In addition, I think part of it is due to games' ability to convey a story+setting to me in a visual format as opposed to just a text-based one, which helps bring me into it better, if that makes any sense. My sense of imagination isn't particularly great (never has been, even as a kid), and it's pretty difficult for text alone to really let me picture a scene in my head.

I've read it. Prose is strong, but also dry, which I liked and my sister hated. The attention to consistency of magic is a highlight. She doesn't kill the mystery by turning it into shonen phleb, but it's clear that there are logical underpinnings and metaphysical ties.
