Yo fam this is the best thing Sonic since Heroes.

This movie is so much better now that they've pushed most of the humans to the background. Only one I care about is Robotnik's simp twink >_>

The best part of the movie was the end credits scene...A lab dating back over fifty years, which means they're keeping Shadow's origin story intact...which means great things might happen if they have the guts to deliver on the darkness.

I have no idea how they'll do it without Robotnik though, since he was pretty important to SA2's story. He's the one that accidentally uncovers Shadow while looking for old stuff his grandfather Gerald Robotnik left behind. And in the climax, we see old recordings from Gerald Robotnik stating that after losing his granddaughter, he basically wanted to kill everyone. Once the story finishes up and Robotnik finally has a moment to reflect on this, he actually wonders aloud in disbelief, "Did my grandfather really want to destroy us?" For a fleeting moment, Robotnik actually gets serious.

How are they gonna do any of this if they won't have Robotnik with Carrey leaving?

I mean, Shadow's backstory goes a hell of a lot deeper than that. They can realistically just remove the Eggman connection, and just run with Gerald/Maria's connection with Black Doom, as the story, if they so chose. Splice SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog together, storywise.

I guess, but I really loved how SA2 took this long-time villain and gave him a brief moment of self-reflection after seeing what his grandfather tried to do. If anything, after those events, I could see it as a good storyline reason for Robotnik to call his plans for world domination quits, and have that be Carrey's last movie. Then move on to other Sonic villains like Black Doom, or the Deadly Six. Even Mephiles could probably be done without Robotnik. Hell, if they had introduced Metal Sonic already, that could serve as a setup to bring him back later as a stand-alone villain as Metal Overlord. There's a lot they could do without Robotnik, but I feel SA2's plot isn't one of them. I feel that would be the perfect send-off, though.

Problem is, I really don't see that in this movie verse. The 2000s era games have really changed our view of Eggman by giving him these "good guy when it counts" moments in a ton of games, but... Carrey's Eggman is NOT that character. He's a Saturday morning cartoon villain, and not even the SatAM one. There's more Skeletor than Robotnik in this guy, if we're being honest. Emotional self reflection wouldn't be a payoff, here; it'd just be tonally dissonant.

Oh there is no way Carrey will not return for Sonic 3. He has stated multiple times he loves the roll. It seems like it may be his final movie.

Thoughts on the music video? They should have used it for the dance scene
