Legion's absolute shit and the NCR is basically all the corruption of the Old World made manifest. Though the only reason I don't side with House more is because a) he's kind of delusional about rebuilding the space program from scratch and colonizing other planets, and b) he makes me kill the BoS, and that makes Veronica sad.

It's even more fun if you play female characters, because when you go to the Legion camp they straight up tell you that you're inferior (and won't let you fight in their arena), and the one slave tells you that she's heard some of the Legionaries talk about how they're going to rape you later.

yeah, i remember going there on my second playthrough and being baffled. it was great, all my hate directed at them in the previous game was justified.

Ceasar himself actually makes a very compelling arguement for his cause and is seemingly one of the most educated men in the series, but the rampant sexism, ignorance and bigotry kinda kills it. I wish the Legion got expanded on more, there's really not much to them compared to the mountain of content for NCR.

Either way they both suck blow up both.

It's only really compelling if you spend less than a few moments thinking about it. His own forces tend to undercut it, as do multiple other factions in the game. The only real valid argument he makes is that the NCR is flawed, but his proposed solution is worse.

Uniting the tribes by force seems like a worthwhile idea, until you realize the entire history of the Fallout universe up to that point contradicts him (ie, there are a lot of ways for tribal factions to become "civilized" - and that's assuming the tribal factions were savage in the first place... it's canonical that the Legion conquered peaceful tribes as well as hostile ones). And while it's easy to say "and then I'm going to establish a capital city and change the entire culture of my empire for the better", it's a lot harder to actually do that. And the game itself basically shows you that all of his dreams and plans only matter so long as he's alive to actually attempt to implement them.

And even if every single thing he says was true, there's literally nothing stopping the empire he wants to build the Legion into from becoming the exact same thing the NCR is. Because the NCR didn't start out that way either.

Caesar's basically a nerd who read too many books and drew all the worst conclusions from them.

It's also telling that most of the other highly educated characters in the game utterly hate him. They're capable of seeing the flaws in his logic that he's become blind to.

Talk to the black slave woman who sells healing power.

Here's her dialogue from the Fallout Wiki:

"A free woman. It's... been awhile since I've seen a woman who wasn't a slave.

We're property. If you're too young or too old, the men usually leave you alone. Usually.

You ought to be careful, yourself. I overheard some of the Legionaries talking about "trying you out." "

There's also at least a few other Legion characters who will tell you to your face that women have no value and exist solely to make babies. And Cass and the one slave girl you can talk to in the Cove mention how the men are eyeing them up as well.

And the game devs have mentioned that most of their attitude comes from the fact that Caesar is aware that infant mortality is a huge problem in a non-technological world (especially when you've deliberately outlawed all advanced forms of medicine), and children raised by "the state" rather than by parents can much more easily be indoctrinated, so it's in the Legion's best interest to basically keep all women as slaves, allow any man who wants to put a baby in them to do so, and then take the baby away to raise it. It's not entirely dissimilar to how Sparta operated (just with women having even less rights). So Caesar encourages the mindset that women are worthless, exist only to make babies, and don't have the right to say no to any man who wants to give it a go.

It's implied that maybe women "back home" have more rights (more akin to actual Spartan wives or German wives during WWII), or that maybe women will have more rights once the Legion is established in New Vegas and no longer on a constant war-time footing, but there's nothing in the game that actually suggests that's true at all.
