I'd be tired after work whether it's 8 hours or 10. Having an extra day off would be great.

Depends on the job, location, etc.

I started my current job working 7:30-4 Mon-Fri.

Then for a bit I did 7:30-6 on Sat - Mon and 9:30-8 Tues with Wed - Fri off and I kind of hated it.

I guess Im just wired weirdly because, idk, despite having an entire extra day, I felt like I didnt really have time. Like if I wanted to do something, I was locked into those three days off.

Im much happier and more productive working my current hours: 7-3:30

Unless you're working a strenuous job generally just being at work a extra two hours won't make much of a difference to me at least and a extra day off is nice.

I prefer shorter work days. I straight up do nothing on my days where I'm completely off. I'm much more productive in my life if I'm forced to roll out of bed and start it because of work. Ideally, I'd work 6 shorter days a week. Leaves me plenty of time every day to do whatever I want/need to.

If Im working a 10 hour day, that day is a complete lost cause for doing anything else.

Four 10 maybe... One extra day for yourself. If it's one of those required shifts that make you work at least one weekend, typically you can get off earlier if there is no management, especially if you are salary. That's if you have a white collar job..MFG or blue collar though,? Forget about it.
Too bad Four 10s isn't Mon-Thur

Truth be told, 10hrs isn't going to super productive for office jobs... But one extra day for yourself and you save on gas and money commuting.

if I had to choose between four 10s with one weekend day vs five 8s M-F with one day working from home, I think I would choose the latter.

I've been working 4 day 10 hour shifts for over 5 years now I can't go back to 5 days.

Also get 1.5 OT and double OT on the 5th and 6th day during prime time in the year so 6 days total each week if I work both OT days in a week.

Yeah, the hours, location and the actual job matters.
yeah I remember hating working 10 hour shifts in my first job in my field, which happened to me in manufacturing. 5am-3:30pm too.

I did a 17-18 hour shift on a Cyber Monday once years back. Never again. Those are high stress, zombie hell hoard type volume days. I was exhausted and hyper irritable by the time it was over and my legs were jelly from running around the building. This was the capper on what had been several weeks of working 12-14 hour days, 6 days a week. The other members of the management team knew I was completely burned out and made me take a day off and we went to a restaurant to blow off steam.

I remember one winter we were overstaffed and business was down so they cut everybody down to 4 8-hour days, except for me, I was put on 5 6-hour days. So I got fewer days off and less overall hours. I was soon told to work full shifts on weekends, but I soon started staying a full 8 every day and nobody said a word.
