Thinking about getting a case of beer/my tent/fishing poles and dog and going camping for a night.

Is it peaceful or boring?

To be honest, it can be both.

nah usually with friends, but a solo one nighter sounds cool.

Depends on your personality, for me that is fun af and relaxing, most people not so much

if you do, let someone know where you're going camping at other than that have fun

I enjoy a night of bushcraft now and then. Having a dog makes the experience imo, wouldn't do it without her.

I grew up rural, parents had 10 acres, neighbors all had 10 acres plus.

from like 12-16 or 17 I would occasional camp down by the river on our neighbors property. They had 600 acres with dairy cows. I would go fishing first thing in the morning and grill the fish I caught as fresh as possible. Like under 5 minutes from the river to the heat.

Does urban camping count? I was a hobo for a bit. Mostly that involved breaking into public buildings.

I love it personally, I used to do it a lot more than I do now. I stay pretty close to home, do a lot of fishing. Used to pound through cases of beer, now it's other stuff.

I've had you tagged as "fishman" for years and now I remember why.

Well, if you are with a dog, you really aren't solo.
I mean that in a good way. All that aside.

Yes, I have, in relatively remote locations.
I would say some were the best days of my life.
You do have to know what you are doing though.

I like camping with friends, but I've slept outside by myself before.

I once spent 2 weeks sleeping in an abandoned paper mill by myself. This was probably 8 or 9 years ago.

I grew up on an acreage with a lot of forest, so I camped regularly by myself with only the fire to keep me company. It's peaceful.

That just sounds so dangerous. If you have back yard I would just use that lol.

Thanks for all the responses, I went camping last weekend with my girlfriend and family. Im not an idiot, and Im going to a lake where theres other people. Just planning on taking my dog and fishing. Then build a fire, get drunk/baked cook some burgers and pass out. Then wake up and come home on the morning

Essentially, people are going missing under very strange circumstances, in national parks. It actually has been documented all over the world I think, but the main researcher into this phenomenon mostly focuses on disappearances in North America

When I was younger I did it solo a few times, but it got boring without company. After that, having a fuck buddy to go with became a requirement like a sleeping bag. Otherwise I'm just not a wilderness person.

For me it came down to waiting for people who wanted to go....at some point I noticed if I kept waiting I would never go.

So, I started to just go alone.
After a while I began to realize that unless you have a really good hiking partner, it's just as well to go solo.

Always though, this only applies if you actually know what you are doing.

Im not much of a hiker, more of a sit on my ass and fish. Been going to this camp ground for over 25 years. I know it pretty well, Ill take pics but they wont be anything amazing lol.

Ill just stay at home and fuck my girlfriend if Im worried about that. I just want to go get drunk and fish and enjoy the peace and quiet
