One of the best murder mysteries ever. First you think it's a whodunnit in the style of Columbo, where it's not whodunnit but how the detective finds out howdunnit and we see everything. Then it just keeps adding twists in the best way.

I watched Bond No Time to Die and I didn't know Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas already had chemistry with this movie first beforehand, awesome.

Just fantastic all around.

My only complaint is the bit early on about how dogs are the best judge of character was really heavy handed. Completely gave away the culprit.

Other than that yeah it's great.

Oh yeah. It would have been funnier if dogs were mean to the nice person and nice to the mean person in a twist. But I didn't really care to pay attention to it since I don't like dogs at all anyhow

I love the Agatha Christie vibe and it's the first and best movie that's not actually from an Agatha Christie novel but so obviously inspired by her works in the best way and the best translation of her work. By comparison, all the other recent adaptations of her work have been quite mediocre to awful.

I just wish we got to find out why he left all his fortune and everything to Marta. At first I wondered if there was more to it like maybe he was having a laugh, either at the family's expense or even at Marta's for having to deal with the hassle of a vast fortune and people trying to con her or suck up to her to get a piece of the pie.

Otherwise the obvious conclusion one would draw is that he is attracted to her and wanted her since old rich men aren't just nice to young attractive women without wanting something in return.

Honestly, I thought it was a Red Herring moment. In a world where we're always looking for the least obvious person, its really cool twist. I did not realize who the killer was because I just thought "Eh, too obvious"

I thought it was amazing the first time I saw it.

On a second viewing, after I knew all the twists and whatnot, some of the plot didn't hold together as well. The mystery has a few wobbly bits. But I still think it's an excellent movie.

A sequel that's a completely different case and has a new cast besides the detective is actually the best way to do it, a way that's evergreen so long as you have a good new idea for a case each film. Guess it wouldn't hurt for the detective to have some recurring characters too.

I love how in the beginning you think the detective is a complete putz who can't even see how obviously guilty and nervous Ana de Armas is acting, and then by the end you realize you were the putz for not seeing that the detective was playing 3.5d chess the entire time.

Whoa whoa whoa just hold on now, I say I say that's a bit extreme.

While yes I did like seeing jamie lee curtis who was great and I expected her to do more or have more revealed about her, I believe the characters are just that, classic murder mystery clue-esque characters who have their own motives for trying to off the head patriarch.

The car chase was exactly what it was supposed to be, hilarious.

And the fact that the mystery all came together perfectly is one of the best parts of the movie, it all tied into each other.

I feel like movies like this - smaller-grade movies with a star-studded cast who are clearly there to make a movie that's fun for them - usually suck (at least the ones that aren't made by Wes Anderson). So I was quite pleasantly surprised that Knives Out did the opposite of sucking.

Don't know if anyone will know this one but what is Scope? After we see Marta puke the first time she lies to the Detective, she hurriedly says that she wants to go get some "Scope" and even the subtitles spelled it like that and I assumed it was some anti-nausea pill but I can't find any brand online called scope.

Rian Johnson is a great director. Most of the hate coming his way is from TLJ... and good reason too. He tried to "subvert expectations" with any of the mysteries built from TFW, and basically made them giant dead ends. Of course this is going to piss off a lot of people and ultimately TRS suffered because of this basically interjecting that somehow Palpatine came back alive when this was never alluded in the previous films.

But with this movie, subverting expectations helped but also having a movie that everyone involved had a blast making. Daniel Craig absolutely killed it in his role.

Also I thought there was a "money corrupts" theme or message in there, Like it's money that makes them bad people? And money might make ana, a once kind person be not that anymore? I dunno.

Anyone absolutely loved to hate the hypocritical daughter character of the toni collette who was doing a lot of grandstanding and then when push came to shove and money was on the line she acted just like the other dude they previously reprimanded. Hilarious
