EchoBaz 05/08/22 10:25:32 AM #1:	First of all, please don't take my thoughts on these games personal. I'm just having fun. Anything I end up liking, I hope you do too. Anything I don't end liking, I hope that you can get something out of that I can't. Started with the this Contra Bosses video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd9hdjAG_ck You know, from what I understand the OG Contra is a lot more popular than the SNES Contra 3: The Alien Wars, and if you can set your personal nostalgia aside, I really don't get it. For one, most of the bosses are really lame. 1/3 of them are weapons on a wall. Wheras almost all of the bosses in Contra 3 are these badass aliens that look so damn cool! That short intro before the game starts really should be iconic too, and it often ends up feeling like a really cool 80's sci-fi action movie. DOn't get me wrong, I think both are fun, and I'll likely continue to play both several more times in my life, but Contra 3 really deserves to replayed a lot more. There's a reason I usually replay it 1 or 2 times a year, alongside TMNT 4, and Super Castlevania! Also, this is my first time seeing Contra 4, and your character is just a blurry eyesore. Hate the artstyle in this so much. To be fair though, I don't really have much love for any nintendo era outside of the NES, SNES, and Switch era. A big part of which is the art style for most of the games that I've seen of these eras! Contra Hard Corps I remember playing before, and yeah, I found it way too hard for me. Sure is fun to watch though, like a lot of genesis games, I really like the art style. Like how this at least tries to have a little more of a story, and you get to choose between 3 different characters. You know what, maybe I should give it another shot sometime this year, and see if I can handle it now. Althought the fact that just boss sections are like a half hour suggests I might need to do it in 2 sittings for the sake of my attention span! What other games have really fun bosses? It opens with the protagonists meeting up and you actually pick which of the two protagonists to side with and you fight them against the other one... It's awesome. Plus the music is beautiful. Love seeing videos that make extremely hard games look unbelievably easy. And wow, turns out that I didn't actually get that far in the game. I probably only fought like 7-10 of the 26 bosses! Man the combat and atmosphere in this game are awesome. God it sucks that gatekeepers have made it so I'll never be able to find this series more fun than frustrating. I'm immediately reminded of what killed Ritual of the Night for me so quickly more than anything else. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that played the older Castlevania games. What's the best thing about Symphony of the Night and the NES and SNES Castlevanias that elevated it above something that was just really really fun and made it feel like this great emotional experience that said things that words could not? That's right, it was the fucking soundtrack! Meanwhile the one in the Bloodstained games feel completely phoned in. The kickstarter was a massive success, for the love of god, why couldn't they find and hire a good composer?
