Youre topic title sells her point short

The WNBA has gotten so good so fast, that stars/ mid tier starters are getting cut
In their rookie deal

the league needs to expand and quickly.

its no reason stars like tea cooper are getting cut on rookie deals

Yea the WNBA cuts have been so harsh. The 2020 Rookie of the Year got cut. That would be like if Ja Morant got cut from his team in the offseason.

The league hasn't broken even in two and a half decades, and teams are cutting players from lack of revenue, so expansion is the answer?

Isn't the WNBA still subsidized by the NBA? As in, it would fold on its own?

Well three things here,

the WNBA is more successful than the nba when it was this old
Multiple teams cutting star players isnt good for the leagues growth considering this is the most growth the league has seen in a decade you want to strike while the iron is hot
The NBA can afford it.

So yes you should expand

remember when that one wnba team got fined $500k for flying it's players first class because it broke some competitive advantage rule and that same team lost every game on that particular road trip

It wasn't even that. The owners of the NY Liberty thought it was bullshit that WNBA players don't get chartered flights like their NBA counterparts. So they paid out of their own pocket to charter flights for their team.

This wouldn't have been an issue if other team owners would do it. But not too long ago the league had Kelly Loeffler's racist ass as a team owner so it's not like the league actually cares about the players.
