I have no idea why, but I was just on the Walmart app looking at the reviews for eggs and I noticed most of the eggs Walmart had in stock are rated around 2.5/5 stars. I checked and noticed most of them were being bombed with 1 star reviews claiming their eggs were broken.

Why would you not open the carton and check the eggs before purchasing them?

Always. Sometimes I even have to pick from different cartons to make a full set.

My gf didn't before she met me. At first she thought it was a little weird in an inconsiderate way that I would touch the eggs to make sure they aren't stuck to the bottom and are broken since she said I was touching other people's foods. I was like wtf. Told her that a lot of people inspect eggs before buying it.

I at least glance at them. I'm not upset if like one egg is cracked on the bottom somewhere that I didn't notice, but if I can easily spot most issues with a quick look...why not?

Walmart also sells a 2x 18 pack that is shrink wrapped together. So you're getting 36 eggs and you have no way to know how many are broken.

Can't believe people actually buy that, but they do.

This is what I do. Random story: I once dated a guy who legitimately gave me shit for checking the carton. Like he went on a long-ass rant every time I did it, saying it was sad and it didn't matter, even when like half the time I'd find broken eggs and picked a different carton. That guy had a lot of stupid shit he liked to argue about. I'm glad I dated him rather early in my adult life and learned those red flags to avoid after him lol.

Wonder if their own transportation broke some eggs as well. Makes me think of that one story about a guy holding a pizza box on its side and complaining when he got home that the pizza was smushed to one side.
