Congrats. I don't have it in me to sink that much into a sealed event. There's way too much random variance. It's fun enough for a prerelease, but for a serious event the notion that some people are just going to open winning decks and others won't bothers me. Of course some sets are better for sealed than others and can't remember how much the variance mattered in Kaldheim, but I'm going to keep waiting for a format I'm more comfortable with.

Well day 2 was...odd.

The draft phase went absolutely horribly, to the point that I was maindecking Smashing Success and Vault Robber, but I still managed to scrape together a 2-2 finish due to getting paired against some very greedy snow decks against which Smashing Success was a bit of a silver bullet. It's a bit disappointing to miss after getting as close as I did to the 2nd draft, even though this deck had no business getting even 1 win.

And yeah I kind of hate sealed in general but I more or less treat at least the day 1's like casual events in the first place.

I did a draft when it was free the other day and I considered Smashing Success, but did cut it. Sorry your draft went bad. Sadly it has to happen to everyone sometime, right?

Seriously considering selling my playset of Mox Opals and two playsets of Mox Chromes... anybody know if there's a best place to sell online? Online I'd obviously want cash and not necessarily interested in the hassle and fees of ebay. If I just go for store credit to buy other game stuff I have a few local places for that. I'm definitely in an area where game stores are thriving more than just surviving (I have three game stores within 5 miles that have moved or expanded into more space since the pandemic started. I don't know how much a soul goes for around here, but obviously satan is buying lol).

I generally sell on TCGPlayer. There are going to be fees involved there of course, but you're still going to make the most money that way. If you're looking for something easier, I know a lot of people speak highly of Cark Kingdom's buylist prices. I've never used them myself, but it seems to be the go-to place for selling online in bulk.

Just came back from prerelease. I made a red/green oil-deck with a splash of black, but the black ended up being pretty useless since I just splashed it for Glissa and I never used her.

The deck worked pretty well. Urabrask's Forge was probably my MVP, if my opponent didn't have any artifact removal then it was just so much insane value. I had a Churning Reservoir out at one point so getting two oil counters on it per turn was nasty. I also had a Thrun which is just incredibly OP, so much value.

Bringing back infect is among the stupidest decisions possible so of course they do it. These people are idiots.

Toxic is a lot more mild than infect. The fact that it doesn't give -1/-1 counters means that blockers don't get ground to nothing and it also makes it so the poison doesn't scale as much as the power

Toxic does seem a lot more fair than infect.

Infect is good because of pump spells.

I've had two 7-win drafts so far (one going through bronze, one through silver), the name of the game seems to be early drops (or at least have something proactive to do by turn 2 or risk getting snowballed). It's a lot more my speed than the last couple sets, where I just don't have the experience with slower, value-oriented draft formats.

Turns out if you make a growing threat on turn 1 most games you do well! Rotpriest is a wild uncommon too, the threat of giving deathtouch to your toxic creatures makes them very dangerous.

So I'm trying to play more responsible amounts of power this year but this curve was dumb enough that 16 lands made sense even without the Bo1 hand selection.

I thought that might be the case, but even on Gatherer they don't have the ONE version of the card listed when you search Thrummingbird. Apparently they haven't added the set yet.

Drafted a grindy UB proliferate deck and it went way worse. Thinking this is another proactive format

Since I've only been watching streamers and not playing... I will say I don't see how UB is going to be good in this format. The way it wants to use proliferate (as UB) is... weird. It's a weak card advantage strategy. It's like UG in Kamigawa Neon Dynasty, a tempting looking trap that can do some things, but (almost) never enough to fight the more concentrated efforts of other color combos. Proliferate is just a support ability in this set. It's the thing that puts Toxic over, or puts oil over, and UB isn't the best at poison or oil on its own by any stretch of the imagination.

Format is generally too fast for most 6-drops. You need to be on the board early and its very hard to recover from falling behind.

Mostly because it was also a pretty strong b/g toxic deck, but one game I did get two of those guys out at once and won based on the life drain
