also I think the core set feel is because of the mechanics they chose. For a few years of core sets theyd have exactly one returning non evergreen mechanic. this is more than that, but the mechanics are all pretty simple and mostly stuff weve seen before.

like Enlist is legally a new thing, but its along the same lines as a bunch of older mechanics. Not the sort of thing that will stand out in our memory in a few years.

Yeah enlist is technically new, but it isn't especially interesting. Compare it to something like Companion or Lesson/Learn which were wild and different.

Enlist is just a fancy way of adding power to a creature.
Saga's are just the old sagas but you can pick where you start
Kicker and Domain are exactly the same.

Yeah I'm having a lot of fun with this format. Probably my favorite since Strixhaven. Though I was on hiatus during Neon Dynasty which I think a lot of people liked?

Domain aggro feels like the strongest deck to me. Lots of good ways to push damage like Meria's Outider and Nishoba Brawler. It scales decently into the late-game, and it comes with the bonus of letting you use every single off-color Kicker effect.

Neon Dynasty was amazing, I'm sorry you missed it. I'd say it may have been the best draft format on Arena, though if not certainly top 3. May favorite part may even be that the consensus "worst" archetype, Red/White, was still highly playable. In fact, for being the worst it gave me some of my best results due to being under drafted.

Neon Dynasty was definitely the high point of the past few years.

Ive cooled on Dom a bit. Its still miles better than Capenna or Baldurs Gate, but it feels like every deck devolves into 4/5-color mush. I dont mind having a 5 color deck in the format, but with all the off-color kickers it feels like youre kinda forced into it.

This card isnt playable in anything besides commander and commander is already a format of people hating other peoples decks

Actually it's also playable in Vintage and Legacy as well. Anything with an oval holofoil is meant to be played in any format that uses "all cards." I'm not sure this is good enough for those formats, though. I mean, it's obviously not a huge deal in vintage as, you know, the hardcore vintage player probably forgot how the combat step even works. Legacy maybe it gets annoying? Seems too slow for Legacy.

100% of people complaining about these cards for legacy have never played legacy before.

Nothing spoiled so far is remotely legacy playable with the exception of maybe the doggy, but that card isn't any weirder than half of the DnD set

Saw In Half might have some potential. I'm admittedly not very familiar with Legacy since I haven't played it in 15+ years, but if you could cheat in Agent of Treachery and then Saw In Half it that seems pretty good. I'm sure an actual Legacy player could come up with something even better, but if you pull it off "steal three permanents and draw six cards" sounds good to me.

Way too slow. For 3 mana in legacy you are showing in omnicience or playing doomsday

Yeah, the new packs are ridiculous. I foresee them selling for a lot less than that in the end since they're giving a bunch of them away for free to WPN stores. They really should have made them tournament legal, as that would guarantee they sell at $1k for four packs.

It's the damn Reserved List that's the problem. They wont make these cards tournament legal unless they get rid of it, which they wont anytime soon.

It would still sell tons if they priced it lower. The Un sets sell quickly and most of the cards aren't legal either.

Did a sealed Unfinity event today and made a green black.. something deck. It's a pretty overwhelming set. So much text and just so much stuff.

Lands look great though, opened up two orbital basics. Didn't get a shock though.

"Overwhelming" shouldn't be the word to describe the supposedly fun set. They really need to deal with the complexity creep.

Paying attention to random things is fine. I love the "physical mechanics" where you have to throw a card or keep track of things in real life.

I think the stickers are what kills me the most. Having to flip through them to constantly remind yourself what's on there and to unstick everything between games.

Yeah unsticking sucks, but for a one time novel experience I don't mind it being complicated.

Technically could use stickers for commander, but you could also choose to just not do that
