I do all the time. And like when I try not to I get worried that I might miss something.

Now this might be an issue.

I use to have to on my phone where it make a sound when I got a work e-mail. However while I would be driving, I would pull over to read it and I was like yeah that is an issue. And took off he notification .

No. Once upon a time, I did. But if it's that important, I receive a call.

I got a new position so I'm doing a lot more than normal, staying late, checking stuff off normal hours.

But for reference, I'm normally lazy as fuck.

I mean idk, not full on lazy (i get promotions), but I give less than my best because I work for a corporation and I know no matter how much I give, they'll always want more.

Also, I once worked for a moron who got the position through cronyism. She got rid of the office's SOP because it was "too specific".

When people started asking "Ok then, what do we do?" she started emailing directives - asking for acknowledgement each time - which resulted in an extra 20-30 emails a day.

Within 10 days everyone's inbox was full and had to be increased and the IT guy said "WTF is going on over there?" Upper management got involved because it was a total shitshow. HQ had sent a time sensitive, and important document to the office email but it was full and the email bounced back.

They promoted her.

Yes, but I only respond if it's an easy internal thing that I know off of the top of my head. I kind of make my own hours, so if I leave at noon, I prefer not to screw over someone that works under me. They tend to panic if they're unsure on something.

I work in bio-tech and our SOPs and WI are intentionally vague.

And were always talking about removing tribal knowledge and stuff, but we also dont want to flesh out those too much. Which is pretty normal for regulated industries, its easier to fuck up something specific but much harder to be out of compliance when somethings more vague and general.

thats what Ive gathered from my time at least.

I do, but I try to not respond if at all possible after hours or especially on weekends. I have 5 direct reports so if something is burning if they need immediate assistance Ill reply.

I usually leave my work computer at my desk at work, but sometimes I'll take it home for the weekend. When I do I'll check like once or twice a day but not do anything about it. I'm not important enough where anyone would need me immediately. Maybe I'll get a request to do something and I'll think about it over the weekend or make a plan for when I get back.
