Arguments for Akuma:

• he is a martial arts master who has harnessed and weaponized evil energy
• his Shun Goku Satsu attack can instantly kill opponents and send their souls to hell
• he was able to punch an island and sink it

Arguments for DK:

• he is a cartoon character, with cartoon character feats of strength
• he is an accomplished boxer
• if DK shoots Akuma, it's gonna hurt

DK was able to easily fend off the mental prowess of Psycho Mantis, but how he will fare against one of the world's greatest - and deadliest - martial artists?

DK can beat Ryu

is DK pure of soul

if he is then the Shun Goku Satsu won't affect him

Little Mac is able to punch out DK so I think Akuma can get the job done. Even if you go with the moon thing on DK's side , Akuma has some crazy stuff like jumping from earth to destroy a meteorite with a punch

While I haven't seen all of Street Fighter V's lore though as far as I know Ryu has never canonically beaten Akuma outside of non-canon Evil Ryu endings. Akuma is either holding back to test Ryu like in Alpha 2 or he stomps him hard like he did in his SF5 story.

mercs has akuma as a 5/week, and dk as a 2/week. I think this just proved mercs has no idea what they're talking about

Donkey Kong Solos

Here is all relevant information I can provide as a DK expert:

-Souls do exist for Kongs and can linger after death, as proven by Wrinkly Kong. Therefore, he has a soul for Akuma to destroy.
-DK is a pure being whose only confirmed kills are beings made of darkness (the Rocs, Cactus King, Ghastly King) and Tiki Tong, unlike Diddy, who killed a bird, murdered its ghost, and then committed genocide. There is no 'mortal' sin for Akuma to exploit. However, Akuma sucks at actually killing with the SGS anyway.
-DK has access to Strong Kong, which makes him invulnerable and intangible for a limited amount of time.
-DK had to drink a potion in order to learn how to pull a lever.
-DK's coconut gun has homing ammunition with a spurt of three coconuts at a time, making him a better zoner than Akuma, who can only throw two diagonally at a time..
-Donkey Kong was chosen by the Sacred Tree to use the moon's authority to resist the Cactus King's corruption. It is unlikely that the Satsui no Hado will overcome him.

It is my opinion that Akuma wins, but DK survives and then Akuma will be too ashamed to get a runback, leaving DK the moral victor. Because that is how every single Akuma fight ever goes.

I don't know every bit of Kong lore, but it probably depends on how you define "pure of soul." Like, is he pure good? Maybe? He's very single-minded (and simpleminded) and I don't think it's in his nature to wantonly seek harm or think about bad things or whatever. He's an ape. He likes bananas. Does that make him immune to Shun Goku Satsuing?

How could Donkey Kong be pure good? The one thing everyone knows him for is kidnapping a girl against her will.

DK only kidnapped Pauline in Mario Vs DK 2 because he was hypnotized by mass marketing and was a victim of consumerism who felt slighted by Pauline's favoritism toward Mario. He is a victim of modern society, nothing more!

The original Donkey Kong is Cranky Kong. The current DK is Cranky's grandson. Presumably Donkey Kong Jr. is his father, though I don't think we ever see a grownup DK Jr. As far as I can tell, modern DK doesn't really do villainous things, with the possible exception of being a pest to Mario (and Pauline) in the Vs. DK games.

Cranky would die to a Shun Goku Satsu, no question.

Akuma has a bad track record with the Shun Goku Satsu because he reserves it for "worthy" opponents, which also means he uses it on people with the potential to find a way to survive it.

On the flip side, he may not view DK as worthy of him using it.

Donkey Kong is motivated primarily by bananas. Perhaps Akuma would not find this base desire fitting of a true warrior.

I'm not saying he needs it to win. I'm just saying it might not even come into play.

I have to go with Akuma here.

If we take Asura's Wrath DLC into account, Akuma is capable of fighting Asura to a draw. I don't think DK could beat Asura in a fight, so based on that, I say Akuma has the advantage here.
