There's barely anything to watch. Most of their stuff is terrible, and I admit I'm pretty picky since I don't watch drama shows (it's all either too trite and cringey for my liking or just plain boring) I exclusively prefer comedy shows. But good ones, not the netflix trash that makes tbbt look like prime simpsons.

Also I'm still surprised that they lost their Netflix Marvel shows, I thought that Netflix was the one that made them so how could they lose them. I already watched them all and not really interested in rewatching them but just curious

I don't know how this works. Are they losing money or they just aren't profiting? Because not profiting would mean they still make more or less the same as last year so they aren't really losing anything right? Everyone makes the same pay, no one just gets an pay bonus right?

I never got to experience the golden age of Netflix. It was when I was in college and too poor to afford it. I didn't get my own Netflix subscription until like 2017. I don't even use it much these days. For like the past year or two, I've been paying for it basically to let my gf, sister, and my mother watch it. I only just recently started watching JoJo on it a couple weeks ago which is the first show I've watched on it all year probably. If I get hit with a password sharing issue, I'll just unsubscribe. Got Hulu and Disney+ through my gf and HBO Max through my phone plan anyway. Plus Prime Video, but I don't watch anything on there really lol. Except for The Boys.

They made too many missteps early on when theyd green light too much crap. They have lots of series with only a season or 2. If they had only had been selective with series then and now have a few long running series, theyd be better off.

They made the wrong assumption early on that theyd be able to continually get the streaming rights to other companys shows.

And now we don't have blockbusters or rental stores and everything sucks.

Netflix and Blockbuster were great because they had fucking everything. That's the point, I want to watch arbitrary movies from 20+ years ago and they make it fu-u-u-u-cking impossible to do so. Prime video is actually better, but jesus christ amazon will kill us all somehow someday.

The charts showing what percent of Netflix's content is from each decade are pretty stark. It's a black hole before 2000

Maybe they could start by making series of things people like actually for them instead of the headass writers that only want to use it as a vehicle for bullshit.

They could also stop raising prices while offering less and stop cancelling shit if it doesn't become a world burning sensation after one season.

I dont particularly like it.

But it is the only one getting literally ANY press, these days. It's certainly doing more for them than shows that haven't had a season in years, like stranger things. Or don't even EXIST yet, like TLA.

Yep, the shareholders put investment into the company because they think it's going give them even more money, so when they see that the subscriber base down they're afraid. This is what happens when you go public, you're at the mercy of the shareholders.
