it charges when it's plugged into the ps4, but not the wall? But it still is usable in low battery when it's charged into the wall. Whats the deal anyway.

also does the ps5 fix this issue? Also does the ps5 fix the issue where watching netflix uses as much controller battery as high intensity gaming?

I've probably never plugged a PS4 controller into a wall but that just seems like not all the hardware is compatible. It doesn't have to be plugged into a PS4 to charge. Not sure about relative battery use in different cases, though.

I'm seeing it stated that that the heaviest use cases for the DualSense, with lots of haptic and trigger feedback, only reduce battery life to something like the normal DS4 life. And that definitely isn't what using the Netflix menu falls under.

My controller is the opposite. It won't charge when plugged into the PS4, but will charge when it's in the wall.

I use mine with my computer by plugging it in via USB and it has never gone low. I would suspect your plug (or outlet) that you're using with the wall is bad.

Side-note, both the PS4 and PS5 controller should work immediately with most games launched through Steam.

Apparently you need a power brick (thing that goes from wall to USB) thats rated for 5 V output and 700-800 mA (0.7-0.8 A). All the ones I have are greater than 1 A output and the controller wont charge.

this is probably the answer you're looking for

Yeah I've been kinda annoyed with the controller situation since the PS4

Console only has two charging slots, the controllers don't even come with charging cables, and you gotta find wacky workarounds

It's like they hate couch play, which is the main benefit they're supposed to have over a pc

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

Both PS4 and PS5 controllers will not charge with a lot of the most common generic cables you'd buy off Amazon. I pretty much have to use something that has an actual hardwired brick plugin, nothing that uses a USB dongle into a seperate block is not strong enough.
