Even leaving aside the question of whether the premise is kinda fucked-up (and I think it is), this book sounds like garbage.

I'm not particularly offended by it, although it takes quite a bit to truly offend me. I wouldn't be surprised if other people do find it offensive, though. Something tells me one of NPR's resident dumbass media critics wouldn't be praising a book where a virus turned women into creatures who became moody and violent for a few days every month.

Nothing in the world could have done as effective a job as this article at guaranteeing I will never even consider reading this book.

So is this a TERF book or

Nah. The author's twitter self-describes her as a "filthcore queen" and links to her patreon where you can see her other works. I'd say "body horror edgelord" would be a much closer title than TERF.

Hi, I'm Gretchen Felker-Martin. I write the most disgusting books in the English language, books about sexual revulsion, about body horror, about how violence forms and fits into our lives. Thanks to your generous support I now write full-time on here and for outlets like Polygon, FanByte, and Nylon. I am deeply, overwhelmingly grateful.

My work includes:
  • Manhunt, my debut novel with traditional publishing, follows two trans women attempting to survive in a world ravaged by a plague which transforms anyone with enough testosterone in their system into a shrieking monstrosity.
  • Ego Homini Lupus, my medieval body horror novel about domestic labor, suffering, and black magic.
  • No End Will Be Found, my horror novella about a young woman tried for witchcraft during the Witch Trials of Wurzburg.
  • Dreadnought, a giant mecha novella about tortured teens piloting gigantic robots and trying to survive their own cataclysmic emotions.
  • Skin Deep, a horror comic about dysmorphia, self-loathing, and dissociation written by me and illustrated by artist Garrett Young.
  • The foreword to Mirror Mirror II, a collection of Gothic porn, art, and comics with work by Clive Barker, Julia Gfrorer, Sean T. Collins, Celine Loup, Carol Swain, and others.
  • IN THE FLESH, a Monday column on the visceral inner workings of film for the (now-discontinued) VRV blog.
  • You Only Come to Girls: A short story in Monoceros, an adult anthology of unicorn-themed art and fiction. Illustrated by my dear friend Julia Gfrrer.
  • The Skin of Other Men: A short story in Beyond the Book of Eibon, an anthology of horror stories inspired by the films of Lucio Fulci.

Well, you can generally tell whether or not Eric Deggans likes something before ever hearing him speak based on the amount of social commentary one can take from a work.

That premise is stupid to the point that even anime wouldn't be able to make it decent (I also think it's been done in manga before but it wasn't that good in manga either).
