Because Republican parents are such massive pieces of shit that their kids soak up outside influences and parental figures like a sponge. It's why so many of the insurrectionists on Jan 6th were reported to the FBI by their kids and other family members.

They control their kids through force and fear so they assume everyone else is a product of that same type of environment.

It must come as quite a surprise to people that came from such upbringing that they were brainwashed by liberal teachers and the media.

I guess the damn late 90s-early 00s video games must have been full of subliminal LGBT messages. Not even Catholic school, Church every week, and a regular dose of Fox News can compete if someone gets a whiff of the dark magic that turned me.

My parents expressed mostly confusion when I came out 3 years ago (to announce my engagement to my then-girlfriend-now-wife). But they eventually learned to, if nothing else, keep their beliefs to themselves. I'm sure they don't actually approve, but they at least pretend to, and I can tolerate that.

It's so weird because my mom would never think I'm a pedophile or that I was somehow influenced by far-left saboteurs at school. She absolutely still loves me even if she thinks I'm "making a poor choice". Yet she'll nod along knowingly if someone says that shit on the radio. Logical inconsistencies that make my head hurt are nothing for a Republican voter.

even in elementary, at best a teacher sees a child 8 hours a day, so factoring in weekends its still not true. Unless the parents are deadbeats who actively avoid their children, or work 60 hours a week.

and in both cases that would be the parents choice.

They usually don't bother with explaining.

They make sure that you are fully aware that grooming *cannot* come from a parent. Only a secondary party doing something without their consent.

Less actively avoid, more ignore except for when they need to present their kids to others to obtain and maintain community approval.

Anti-vaxxers for decades would claim pediatricians are pedophiles and equate vaccination with "penetrating" someone.

So naturally in 2021 the GOP formed an unholy union with them and made it apply to all physicians

After about a decade of my mother periodically lamenting at me that she wanted to know who "convinced" me to be gay and me telling her (as politely as I could muster) every time that that wasn't how it works, I finally had to just tell her to shut the fuck up about it. To her credit she did.

They don't explain anything. They just misdirect or whatabout, and move the goalposts.
