The first one's not terrible if you're into cheesy horror. It suffers from sequel rot like most horror franchises do, but that shouldn't deter you from just watching the first one.

I remember watching one of the scenes in my Drivers Ed class I forgot why we watched it, though

1, 2, 3, and 5 are a ton of fun.
4 is lame.

I did enjoy them sometimes

I've never seen them, but I have watched a compilation of all the deaths scenes in the series. Some wild stuff there.

IIRC, cracked does this series where they cover the complete collection of some movies. They did Final Destination, Saw, and The Fast and the Furious. When you mentioned the complications of all the deaths, it reminded me of that

The first one hasn't aged well. The second kinda sucks. The third might be the best. The fourth looks ridiculously low-budget and is stupid. The fifth is alright. I feel like there isn't a lot of consistency among the films. The movies range from dark to extremely campy, although the concept has an inherent goofiness (although it's not always as bad as water going back into the pipe, which was just stupid).

I think most of them on NF right now.

I thought the over top nature of the deaths was the entire point of the franchise tbh.

They arent too bad, I had a pretty sour taste on the franchise since the first one I saw was 4 but last year I finally went through and watched the others and it wasnt too bad, some of the deaths were a bit too ridiculous but for the most part the deaths only started getting too ridiculous when the whole looping back part comes into the story

I thought it was a good scary movie. Yes

Il probably check out 2. Seems imdb says its decent. Plus the fact they made several more afterwards 2 must be decent

It's worth pointing out that 5 is the highest rated one on Rotten Tomatoes, and in fact, the only one certified 'fresh' by film critics!

The kills get more and more ridiculous and it becomes hilariously goofy. Marathoned them all and had a great time just looking forward to the next over the top kill.

Not really, no. They have a lot of common deaths. Even the ones with outrageous added steps in some cases are pretty common, but others are just average all around.

5's bridge scene was pretty awesome.

Honestly, if I was rating the franchise, I'd probably go

3 > 5 > 1 > 2? > 4

2 is the only one I'm iffy on because I haven't seen it in years.

4's escalator scene was awesome, though.

1's story is better than 5's, but it kinda shows both its age and budget. 5 falls on the campier side of things, has some weak plot threads, etc.

I prefer a horror movie with a tangible villain myself. There's nobody to explode at the end of the movie.

He also has a role in #5. tbh, I didn't like his character in the FD films because he basically exists to provide information he shouldn't have. And it's also kinda ridiculous because it involves new rules at times.
