Why is Sonic of all things the VG movie that doesn't disappoint.

If you told this to any me of the past I'd have never stopped laughing.

because despite feeling the need to shoehorn humans into the movies they actually understand what fans like about the games unlike 99% of video game movies

Also sad day when every Sonic-related thing except for the main developers of Sonic games understand what people enjoy about Sonic.

Apparently even the Sonic Roblox game is getting rave reviews for what it is!

They did for like two games!

It's gotten better since Colors although they still whiff sometimes

I mean Colors and Generations are easily the best Sonic team produced games. But then they also put out junk like Lost World and Forces.

We're now a decade removed from a good 3D Sonic game.

It's okay, we got the amazing Sonic Boom cartoon out of the deal

Well don't forgot the Sonic Colors remaster too which was literally seizure-inducingly bad.

Man I forgot about one of the best parts.

Walk by Pantera playing when the Death Egg Robot started moving.

I didn't see the first movie but the bird people took me out a bit. They look so realistic it's jarring in the Sonic world.

The issue with Forces isn't that the devs didn't understand what people like about Sonic, it's that it was rushed as hell. That game is very clearly trying to be Generations 2 but with a third character of the OC. If it had the same level of polish as Generations it would not be so reviled.

They should have intentionally made Infinite as (Not) Coldsteel and played him up as such

I mean he basically is, his backstory is that he's an edgy wolf poser who got beat up by the actual edgiest character, Shadow the Hedgehog, and decided to become even edgier than him.

This is all in some brief DLC scenes. It's kind of a shame the game doesn't get to flesh this out because it's a hilarious concept. Even more so because the game then becomes about dueling Sonic OCs. Instead Infinite gets dropped off a narrative cliff and remains a nothing character.

I still need to subject myself to Forces since it was a free PS+ game last year

I enjoyed the Modern Sonic stuff in Forces well enough

it was really just the Classic Sonic stages that was just a straight up downgrade from Generations

Got actual goosebumps at the Sonic/Knuckles fight in the temple, which I wish had been longer, and Super Sonic. The whole climax of the movie was perfect

Obviously some stuff sucked or took the air out of the movie a bit (cabin and breakout section as has been mentioned, human characters, wedding stuff) but they mostly nailed it

I'm very easily pleased though and the entire movie could probably have been the clip of KNUCKLES PUNCHING THE EMERALD OUT OF ROBOTNIK'S BODY, FUCKING YES repeated for 90 minutes and I would have been happy

Saw it yesterday. Pretry good movie, some stuff was wack dance battle, operation catfish was kinda fun but I didn't care for them heading off to rescue Sonic and Tails. Knuckles stole the show. I got hype for the ending credits scene and was kinda screaming for Project Shadow.

I finally watched the first one last week and liked it so much, I immediately went out and saw the sequel. Very fun movies! I do think I give the first one the slight edge though. It had a better tone that was more all ages, whereas the sequel leaned more towards kiddie. Also slightly preferred Jim Carrie's performance in the original more. Though I really loved Knuckles and Tails and all the Easter eggs and stuff in the sequel!

Domestically it's reached $134 million, which is only $15 million less than the first movie made domestically it's entire run. It took 22 days for the first to hit $134 million compared to 15 for the sequel.

Same. I was very surprised and let out more than one yelp

So it's well past its domestic cumulative and slightly past its total.

Hopefully it can get to $400 million.

I still need to see this but at this point I might just have to wait until it's available to stream
