I admit I didnt much care about the new crew, but the overall events were pretty cool. The characters are not good. The dialogue is not good. The directing is not Trek at all. Modern Trek tries to carry scenes with camera pans around special effects, dramatic swelling music, and emotional platitudes for dialogue. Old school Trek was all about meaningful and nuanced dialogue and exchanges. https://youtu.be/7y2dBhj8sOM Imagine how this scene would be tackled in Star Trek Picard.
