Furthermore, people are encouraged to throw their gay and trans kids out onto the streets, usually by churches or online groups. This is why a very large percentage of American homeless people are LGBT+ and often underage or started out being homeless when they were children.
My family has sheltered people who would have otherwise been homeless a few times.

Being homeless tends to cause mental illness to proliferate in a person if it wasn't causing problems before- insomnia, malnutrition, abuse, etc- but that's not what you mean, is it?

That's literally the only one out of those that is mental.

... I was listing factors that CAUSE mental illness that occur when you are homeless, not mental illnesses. Homeless people experience insomnia, malnutrition, abuse, etc... when homeless at a higher rate than the general population, and this exacerbates mental illnesses or outright causes them.

This was not even mentioning that becoming homeless in and of itself is traumatic most of the time. It was poorly phrased, I admit; I'm very tired.

I'm sure this is real.

Also, black people owed reparations.

Stop arguing like it's only the people put on boats that were wronged by the systemic racism that the US is built on.
Except if that is your argument then white people are owed reparations too. I got arrested with no evidence at one time just like black people. White people also get shot for no reason just like black people. So no, you aren't owed reparations at this point. The people that were are all dead at this point. Fucking deal with it.

Was your Grandma's house burned down by hate groups, and you received no assistance in rebuilding because banks wouldn't work with you, and police would be neglectful to investigate? Entire neighborhoods that were accumulating black wealth were razed by white supremist and their land taken from them without any compensation.

Reparations are about returning stolen equity that would empower the black community to once again be prosperous under their own means. Fucking deal with it.

*edit* and reparations should absolutely include indigenous communities as well.

If I paid taxes I might have an actual opinion.

The american tax suckers have given me way more than the 200k that is going toward this program, and never had a thing to say about it so it's strange to see them all up in arms now.

Americans are generally much quicker to hate on trans people than on rich people. Really, they're quicker to hate on most people than on rich people. It's kind of why things have gotten so bad on the economic front.

The only reason to hate on a trans person for being trans is just to be an asshole. Hating on rich people is from jealousy.

Not really. A lot of that hate gets misdirected at the lower-tier rich people that don't actually have anything to do with the world's problems (the "1%" isn't actually the problem so much as the "0.001%" is; the wealth disparity among the "1%" is only slightly less dramatic than it is among the general population), but the ultra-rich are the ones systematically undermining the viability of the middle class by engineering monopolies and housing crises, depressing wages, and otherwise making the cost of living unsustainable for anyone that isn't already rich. Homelessness is the fault of real estate investors. They are the only reason housing isn't readily affordable for almost everyone (and affordable enough that propping up the remaining few with government housing programs would be very feasible).

Don't get me wrong, there's no reason successful people shouldn't be able to become rich enough to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. The issue arises when people go orders of magnitude beyond that, actively making the lives of everyone around them worse to feed their addiction to numbers going up for no tangible reason.

That's not to mention that a lot of them also tend to be involved in companies responsible for massive amounts of pollution or export labor to nations with human rights records that are questionable at best if not outright using slave/near-slave workers. Or how many of them treat employees as... 'disposable' would be an improvement. I tried working at Amazon until I realized employees would basically have to work against each other to avoid getting reprimanded/fired. Once I realized that I didn't even consider going back.
