one of the more engrossing shows i've watched recently! the visual style is really striking and the subject matter is super engrossing. love the worldbuilding with robert redford apparently inheriting nixon's mantle as president-for-life.

i think some of the story beats have been a bit predictable, but in a way that almost doesn't matter - like it didn't really make the story any worse that we all knew the senator was bad or that hooded justice was angela's grandfather; that was kind of the point, and the reveals were still really satisfying

my favorite characters are mirror guy and jean smart's FBI agent. really hope that mirror guy survives, but episode 5 felt like it was the end of him, and it was a fittingly grim sendoff.

my partner found the show super-frustrating at first in a way she normally doesn't, because of the knowledge gap of not having read or watched the graphic novel/zach snyder movie. but she's coming 'round on it too.

anyone seen it? seem to remember there being a bit of chatter on B8 about it a few years ago

A couple of us are watching right now. Me, Scare, War, and Wickle. We're on the last episode.

I was saying how it's a cool ride because every episode unloads more onto you and it just raises stakes more and more each time.

It's like Lindelof wanted to do the experience of Lost, but correctly.

haha, i mean to be fair, lost was incredible because of its scope. i enjoy the cohesiveness of watchmen, but a miniseries like this can't replicate 20 major characters you care about or hate in their own way, getting invested in their stories for dozens of hours

More like the idea that there's a lot of weird shit going on and it's intriguing because it's so strange, and they manage to reveal stuff as they go that makes it a meaningful payoff.

wrapped the lady three episodes last night. think it started going off the rails a bit, but mostly in an interesting way. not a huge fan of how the villains' dates are handled. episode 8 was such a banger. and the ozymandias on europa subplot was amazing.
