A lot. We're about 9 months behind the physical card game now.

Just a few wins away from plat 1. Then I can retire.

Ya know, considering how degenerate the whole DPE/Adventurer stuff apparently is, I'm not terribly saddened that we're behind the physical game at the moment?

You can replace one Upstart with Sky Striker Ace - Roze until you get enough to craft a third one. HFD and 2 Lightning Storms worked so well against Eldlich. Infinite Impermanence should be your next priority. I won against Eldlich despite them activating Imperial Order.

I decided to push through to finish the syncro event tonight and get the tickets to clear out the store exclamation mark. I actually had some crazy good legacy pack pulls! Got card destruction and a free kaiser colosseum. Overall I actually got enough resources to reignite some desire to play this game for fun instead of just getting through dailies.

That said this event was really hit and miss even compared to the others. 90% of my matches were dracoslayers or syncron which isn't bad or anything, just got predictable. The issue is every single duel that isn't dracoslayer is combo until the other person gets bored and quits. Pretty sure I had 6 matches end the second I summoned one adamancipator today.

They can easily control Adventurer DPE stuff as they release. I'm just mystified by the dev team's really long silence on anything except events.

Man like it really has to be some shit like they think MD is just another one of the many like live for 2-3 years and die sims that pop up every 5 years.

Also Adamans aren't really that strong in the synchro event imo. They require a lot more luck than they usually do, esp cuz they have no access to the consistency boosters in the xyz and links

I hate this event more than the last ones because there's 3 deck types that people mainly run and the resonator combos are even more boring to watch than drytrons.

Honestly people are kinda spoiled by other summoning types requiring less hoops to pass to do crazy stuff. Synchros have always required a lot of steps because they're balanced by their conditions and having to run a healthy balance of tuners and non-tuners. Sure in sims this might require a lot of time of just staring at nothing while your opponent does their thing, but in physical card game where combos go really quick, and most people at least practice before they do anything, so synchros have never been a problem and have been really healthy for the game.

But when like links have requirements that just says "shit on the board" and xyz basically between links and synchros, obviously they're gonna have way simpler combos. In physical, they looked down on it because it would be stupidly easy to achieve them compared to the planning and execution required by synchros.

In MD however, nobody practices or tries to play fast, and the simulator isn't that welcoming to fast comboing. So synchros just feel worse when they're the subject of comboing.

Do it. They're really good (not tier 1 good but still pretty competitive) and really cheap to build. Like, the deck can function and do well with only one single UR card, a copy of Terraforming that you probably have for another deck already. It's that cheap.

Yeah, the problem is that I don't have the CP to build them all. Only have enough for like 8 SR cards and my UR CP is still zero. I don't have Terraforming, either.

I'm sick of seeing True Draco decks in the synchro exhibit. What's the point of these special exhibits if people are just going to play stuff like this anyways.

Well, synchro simply needs more to summon.

The fact that you need to x + y = z and can't go over it (like Ritual) can be limiting.

Yeah synchros actually need time and planning. It's pretty difficult to just wing it, which is why most people just follow the cookie cutters. But there are always synchro plays that nobody's ever thought of, and you see them usually in YCSes and shit where once somebody does it, everybody just copies.

It's the thing that's keeping the top competitive in YGO afloat. Links and Xyz, literally everybody can figure shit out for themselves without any other assistance. Despite that, they're much too strong. @Ignisters is the only one that kinda demands a bit more from the player despite being link, and so is World Legacy U link combo. Otherwise as long as you know the Link rules, it's just so goddamn easy.

It's just kinda sad seeing people shit on synchros when the best synchro combos didn't exist til somebody crazy enough figured them out like months later and dominated pro scenes with it. It's incredibly healthy for competitive for anybody willing to give a shit to lab it out. That kinda stuff is extremely rare in card games because card games are too afraid to make shit too complicated, so they keep a hard cap on the skill ceiling

To wit, I had my Black Metal Dragon Ash'd, then my Monster Reborn DD Crow'd, then my next turn had my Black Stone get PSY-Gamma'd that the opponent just drew.

That's been getting on my nerves too. 90% of hands just happen to have ash or called by.

And I lost, no exaggerating, 9 coin flips in a row at platinum 2 with only 2ish wins away from plat 1 using Tenyi. Somehow I end up against 3 DD Dynamites, and the rest were all Eldlich. So I'm pretty salty.

For every few duels you see the opponent have every handtrap, they probably had like a duel 2-3 duels ago where all they drew were just a bunch of handtraps lul.

One time I ran 11 handtraps, and I basically drew all of them except like 2 cards that weren't combo starters. I reduced it to 8, but I stopped drawing them at all

To be honest Borrelsword while good is a huge commitment to play. His 3+ effect monsters link summon requirement can bite you in the ass cause he isnt as brain dead to summon. Where accesscode is so much easier and has a potential bigger impact

Still a great card but Rokkets need a lot of cards to work correctly.

Makes me want to just play tri-zoo up to plat 2 then swap to tenyi again. At least with tri as soon as I use Fraktall they either scoop or I just combo then they scoop on their turn.

Still a great card but Rokkets need a lot of cards to work correctly. Borrelsword always feels like a win more card to me. Where Borrelload Savage Dragon on the other hand? Huge Good boy, just remember to always always always link summon anything (hopefully you can link into Link-2) because his negate is dependent on having a link summon in the grave to equip to himself.

It's a 4 link monster that requires 3+ effect monsters. So you can use a single link-2.

Oh, so in addition to the link amount, you also need to fulfill the summon requirements. TIL.
I thought as long as you have a monster with enough link, you can just summon others willy nilly.

A lot of link monsters you can. But the more powerful ones do have some more specific conditions. Borrelsword just takes a lot of resources to invest to get him on the board is all. And not a monster you want to summon if the opponent has tons of cards.

Its why I try to test it in solo mode. I saw time and time again that when I would want to summon Borrelsword I either couldnt because I forgot he takes more materials or I could make it but then I would lose something else I needed more.

Again, Borrelsword is not a bad card by any means. But its not a card you summon without a plan and usually that happens more at higher level play where games can go potentially longer.

Yeah, I do feel that way with synchros too. I don't really like the one with 'synchro tuner' requirement (RIP Shooting Star Dragon).

Then what about the vanilla Borreload Dragon? I got three of it, and also two of the fusion variant.

But no matter, though, I guess I should say goodbye to the royal finish Savage Dragon, lol. That one's sacrifice shall become a catalyst for a handtraps.

It's because you have people running True Dracos which were actually banned in the XYZ fest and sychro decks tend to end up being a lot of watching special summoning for a field of negates.

The fact a loss is only 50 points, it's often just not worth staying to end of the duel for the measely 50 so it's a lot of scouping.

Yeah the plethora of anti-synchro decks just feels wrong for a synchro-focused event. >__> I've played maybe one game for more than two turns. All the other ones are one of us surrendering once a combo starter goes through. <___<

So far the only fun thing to happen was going against a Barrier Statue player. They used Mage Power + Water, set 3, Demised, set two more. I activated Lightning Storm and laughed.

Man, I wish they'd stop dropping extra missions a couple days into the event. Especially "deal 100,000 damage" missions, and especially when the damn games rarely go to actually doing damage.

Ah, so they are dropping more missions?

Yeah, they did this with the N/R Festival, too; adding a couple more missions a few days in to try and ensure there are people still involved. They're not hard, just kinda tedious.

I have not even reached 5000 medals yet. This event is surprisingly boring

I'm at 8k myself so, uhh, 6 more wins?
But I guess being at silver helps.

Yep every time I break the opponent's board they either resign or wait until I start the attack phase THEN do that D/C thing that doesn't count as a loss for their records

I'm getting a little salty over my bad luck. Losing 8 coin tosses in a row sucks, people quitting out the one time I get to go first makes it worse. But even worst than that is I seem incapable of drawing like half my deck. I have two super poly glued to my hand in half a dozen games but haven't drawn a single uni-zombie in like 15 duels.

I felt bad beating this Witchcrafter player in the synchro fest. The duel essentially came down to the fact that Block Dragon has better recursion than the entirety of the Witchcrafter archetype. But it was a nail biter where I only had 1100 LP left, and having Harpie's Feather Duster really mattered

Tbh I've stopped caring about the missions/dailies. I'm burning out lmao.

I'm gonna dial back a bit until next season. Chasing Plat 1 isn't worth it for me, and the lack of alternative modes is killing me. I actually booted up the old 2004 GBA game and as simple as it is it was a massive breath of fresh air. >_____>

Next season I'm just gonna chill in Gold using whatever jank fun decks I can cobble together.

Almost losing against Morphtronic player who sealed my field with a trap that prevents Lv 4+ monsters to attack and watching every Morphtronic roll dices.

I put Red-Eyes Baby to the field (Lv 3) and stole their 6.6k ATK Power Tool with RE Fang w/ Chain. Alas, they deleted my Baby Dragon.

They rebirthed Power Tool but before it can proc its effect, I stole it again. In response, they summoned Red Daemon Dragon Tyrant to kill the one that stole Power Tool. I do have a revive for a Red-Eyes but what is 2.4k ATK to Tyrant's 3.5k.

....then I drew Raigeki which they could not cancel and direct attacked. Legit Jounouchi lucky moment right there.

Chilling in gold is the optimal way to play MD. Honestly tho it's kinda funny seeing so many surrenders from gold 1~2s when I was doing a few ranked for dailies >.>

I've had so little motivation to play this season that I haven't hit Gold1 on either of my accounts yet. Even if I wanted to go for Plat1, I don't have the time or motivation to do so. I also haven't even reached 6,000 points in the Synchro event on either account.

I got Platinum once and it was toxic as hell so I just chill in the gold tier the problem is I've won almost all my dual and I'm definitely Platinum but Fuck that
