Is that FWD or AWD? Also, $300 charge for window tint? I hope thats a full wrap. If its not, I would pressure them to do the front two for free.

Did you come with your own proof of preapproval with financing? My job has a credit union and I got 2.5% interest with a 750+ credit score instead of the 5% they wanted to sneak in.

Also, take out all of those accessories. You can do them yourself somewhere else for way cheaper. Same with powertrain warranty, Resist-All, etc. Don't fall for those.

Dont they want $37K?

It looks like part of that sticker price shows that they expect $5,000 as a down payment, which then brings the price down to $32K.

Unless Im misreading it.

I don't have pre-approval but I ran some examples amounts through my banks loan calculator.

25K - 84 mos - 4.09% - $344.24
25K - 72 - 3.14 - 382.12
30K - 84 - 4.09 - 412.50
30K - 72 - 3.14 - 458.82

So with my bank at best rates at close to or maxed months, I'm looking around $400-$500 a month

Yeah but I blew the motor in my car.

I either want something new or another HHR lol

And I'm not overpaying for a 11+ year old HHR so might as well get something new.

Or at least something of an agreeable model from the last 2-3 years, but most used cars are about the price of a new car so it's hard to justify a newer used car

That honestly seems like a legit price for the AWD model. AWD is pretty necessary for up to seven months per year, so its worth spending the extra gas money during the summer. I plan on having AWD forever because it drives so easily.

Well wynaut?

I drove a base model 08 HHR. Surprised that mf had a computer in it.

I just want something new(er), of a similar style (I. E. hatchback/suv), that has safety features, feels modern, is reliable, and that my mom won't have issues getting in and out of due to extenuating circumstances.

I'd be happy getting another HHR but I feel like I won the jackpot with my HHR given how long it lasted and how many minimal legitimate issues it gave me. I ignored a fuck ton of smaller issues I didn't have to fix (I knew not to throw more bands at it than I absolutely needed to). But I'm afraid that getting a 11+ year old Chevy now is just asking for someone else's issues. And a HHR isn't a car that you get to just leisure around in, that's a car you drive out of necessity.

It's just an example based on the "stores average credit"

I'm not too far from base so they get a fuck ton of no-credit having privates coming through to finance cars.

I'd qualify for better.

Also I'm not immune to proper suggestions, especially with justifications of why/why not over the car.

If you can (properly) articulate why X over Y or why Z year over A, B, or C year or new year then I'll listen.

Because I'm pretty ignorant about cars broadly speaking, but I'm also not ignorant to the point to not be able to understand things explained or logicked out to me.

Like before this week I never knew Hondas and Toyotas were actually legitimately considered among the most reliable vehicles (well I know 90s Toyota trucks will go through hell and back). I knew they were popular but that doesn't mean much. A bunch of shit products are popular.

Be careful relying on refinancing.

1) Immediately becomes used instead of new so you get used car rates.

2) Vehicles are really expensive these days. Banks might turn it down altogether if the LTV is too high. Theyll compare your bloated dealer loan to the used car value.

Almost every Japanese car company is really good, with a few exceptions. Mitsubishi and Nissan can make unreliable cars, but Nissan is sometimes okay. Either of those is still way more reliable than any American car. Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru are all extremely reliable cars and the repair costs are also way cheaper than American cars. German is usually comparable to Japanese, with the exception of BMW.

Honda and Toyota are more likely to give you a cut-cost interior (snap-together plastic and buttons that dont work because you didnt buy the right package), but its cheaper. Subaru is a little more expensive, but its one of the safest cars on the road and all the interior switches work on the base model, including power seats and windows, heated seats, volume control on the steering wheel, etc.

Looking at a Forester Premium, can get a 2022 one with similar features, for cheaper than the CR-V.

Don't much care for their cheesy commercials but they've never bugged enough to turn me off their product.

I imagine Subarus aren't the cheapest to fix, just because they don't carry near the ubiquity of Honda/Toyota, though.

I'd say it's worth checking out the Subaru. I bought a 2021 WRX Base last year and was able to reserve an incoming unit and the dealer agreed to eliminate the addons and their charges. I also got it for $1200 off MSRP and did the dealer financing for 2.34% for a 4 year. So, you might have better luck with them on a deal.

It depends, really. In my city, my Outback is very likely the most common car on the street, so I can very easily find parts. The problem is that some entire regions dont commonly have Subaru dealerships. When I was in Louisiana, the closet one was actually in another state, so it would have been very impractical to drive it there. Regardless, the only fox Ive even needed was a tail light and the blower motor for my AC, which wasnt that expensive.

I would be very tempted to look into a Forester if something ever happened to my Outback. The Outback sits a little lower and is a bit longer, so the Forester is closer to the CRVs dimensions. The Outback, Legacy, and Forester use the same engine (I think), so its easier to find parts this way because theyre more common.

It sits a little taller, too, which is one tiny complaint I have about my Outback. If I put the seats down, I can fit a full sized bike in my back seat.

Leasing and Financing both have their pros and cons. Financing usually has higher monthly payments, but once you're done paying that off, the car is yours. So for reliable cars like Hondas, you could enjoy several years of no car payments before getting another car.

But yeah, if you're constantly buying a new car every few years, then leasing is definitely better for that.

Based on the KBB for a 2022 CR-V is more than the MSRP at 7K miles so I could at least get what I owe back (besides maybe the down payment.)

My mom liked the CR-V and she may be driving it for like 9 months so I'll just commit to that for a year at least.

Give myself more time to learn cars, explore options, etc.
