Its pointless. Most companies save their big announcements for their own reveals. Social media has made that easier. It leads to underwhelming showcases and lower turnouts.

The landscape has been changing for a long time. There's just too many games coming out now, it's not like the old days when a handful of announcement would excite us for a year. Plus, games hardly even reveal any info before they're 6 month away from launch, so we don't get the same level of drip-fed-hype.

The awkwardness of the Peggle 2 announcement was perfect. The jump, the music, the dead silence of the audience made it so funny to me.

Upon rewatching, it really was amazing. The light show, and especially that dramatic jump, and then...Peggle 2. You can't make this stuff up, lol.
