Not at all since 2022 was already covered by enough big releases and the game still hasnt had a title reveal even

Yeah, at this point my biggest problem is that it should be on a different system. I'm sure it will be great, but the hardware is completely ancient at that point

How does a few extra months hurt it any more than coming holiday 2022 where it would still feel ancient on Switch hardware anyways?

It will release 6 years after the switch came out. The WiiU which followed the most successful console ever to that point was out in 6 years that means either.

A: It will be even longer between switch and something new
B: It will come out with a new console announced and that will really make it look bad in comparison.

The only alternative is we see some classic Zelda two platform shenanigans which always seems to happen and the new console is also coming Spring 2023 but hasn't been announced yet.

Its really not all that much extra time. Everything coming this year on Switch will experience the same of shouldve just waited for more console power. Kirby just came out and the background frame rate drops to like single digit

When they said they were "Aiming for 2022" I knew right away they would push it to 2023

I never felt like this would actually come out this year

Why do people think games will perform better on Nintendo's next system? They'll increase the power and people will put out games with even higher requirements on it so they'll perform just as poorly.

Just wishful thinking theyll at least hit the current standard the other two consoles have I guess? Dropping to 9fps in 2022 is just awful performance

Unfortunate, not a shocker. This would be the third game from a poll I made on delays to get delayed after Suicide Squad and STALKER. Other than those Starfield got a decent amount of support so maybe thats next.

Anyone surprised by this has never followed a Zelda dev cycle lol. The real question is whether it'll get delayed even further, as absurd as it sounds.

Has there ever been a less surprising delay announcement? I feel like they only gave a 2022 window for this game to satiate fans at E3 last year, the game was clearly not ready to show then.

This coupled with the fact Mario Kart DLC runs until late in 2023 means the next console probably won't be happening until late 2024-early 2025 at the earliest.

Not sure why people thought we were getting the "Switch 2" in 2023. Successful console lifecycles are now seven years so that pushes the next console to 2024 and if the Switch continues to sell well they may hold off to 2025.

Nintendo has a history of releasing Zelda with new consoles. TP and BotW are obvious. LA for the switch launched with Switch Lite and Majora's Mask 3D launched with New 3DS. If they release Switch 2 in 2024, they'll run into their Wii U dilemma where the Switch 2 won't have a big non-port Zelda until around 2029.

Also, Furukawa has repeatedly talked about the importance of eliminating the volatility that's plagued Nintendo throughout its history, so there's been lots of speculation that Nintendo could abandon the traditional console format altogether. For example, I think it's possible Nintendo could release a "Switch Pro" with the rumored 4K DLSS in Spring 2023 with BotW2. At the time, all Nintendo first-party games will release for both the original Switch and the Pro, but third parties can make Switch Pro exclusives for titles that can't run on the Switch.

Then in say 2025, if the Switch Pro was a success and has a good install base of 20-30+ million, Nintendo can just declare Switch Pro the "Switch 2" and say that future games would only run on the Pro and anyone still using the original has to upgrade. This way, Nintendo can ensure that they can always maintain a decent sized install base and not run into the Wii U situation. And of course, if the Switch Pro is a failure with low adoption rate, Nintendo can prolong the original Switch's life or try to shoehorn in a new gimmick with a new brand or whatever.

The Switch can barely run 1080p30 games in docked mode and somehow you think Nintendo is going to release the next Switch that can do 4k in the current form factor... Are they somehow using 1nm chips? Do you know how much current flagship phones cost? Do you know how long their batteries last when playing demanding games? Does physics somehow not apply to Nintendo?

It's obviously not native 4K. Probably going to be 720p but uses DLSS to upscale. The Nvidia cyberattack last month already leaked files showing Nintendo's been toying with DLSS for a while now.

DLSS is not magic... you need a good GPU, and they usually cost as much if not more than a Switch.

You can tell that to Nintendo. As I said, I'm going by the recent cyberattacks which shows Nintendo's been toying around with it, which supports a lot of the "rumors" about it for the past couple years. Who knows whether they'll actually use DLSS, especially with the current chip shortage..

tbf DLSS is pretty damn close to magic
