What did you think?

I'd say 2/5:

• Nice to see the brutal killings from covenants; sets the tone off right from the beginning that this is going to be gorey.
• Why is there a human helping the covenant? That's not part of any halo lore. Wtf.
• Show just looks weird, despite costing $10 mil per episode.
• I don't give a shit about Kwan. She wants freedom for her planet that doesn't have any people on it anymore? She wants aliens to win? Lolwtf.

Better than I expected but that's not saying much

So many odd choices made for it, despite how much they've spent on it. Really quite baffling.

But what DarkRoast said I guess. It's better than I thought it'd be, given all that, but still disappointing.

I don't like how the master chief looks.

I thought it was just gonna be terrible, but it's not bad at all. I watched the first episode twice.

i liked it, but i didn't go in with any story baggage.

the one complaint i've seen a lot that i don't really understand is about Makee being with the covenant, or even leading the covenant. i guess i need to watch that scene again, but the only impression i got on that scene is that she's basically only there for the rest to use to learn their enemy. she's been kidnapped, and while they're making her comfortable, she's still a prisoner. even if she herself doesn't realize it.

am i completely off on that? or is it just another bit of game fans bringing in their own biases and not seeing what's actually shown?

Yea I thought this was weird cause master chief picks up the mounted machine gun from the turned over truck and manages to kill one of the covenant yet at start of that seige it had no effect on them.

I'm going to guess it's the firing rate and the aim that determines that.

Honestly they should have just gone with the storyline from the first game, rather than some complex original story trying to focus on the UNSC, Covenant, Insurrectionists, Halsey, Keyes, Silver team, Master Chief, etc.

Halo: CE would translate very well to a TV series format.

I totally missed all that...the way she's being treated, I thought she was like a covenant elite or something. What you say makes more sense

never played the games but especially annoyed he took the helmet off. I thought he was supposed to be like Judge Dredd?

Wasn't impressed with the young girl either.

The 2nd episode had so much tease at the end, where the covenant human girl was going to get naked, but of course the show didn't go there.

I don't understand why you create a show based on existing lore and then shelf or ignore all the interesting parts.

Should have just adapted contact harvest. It's the least "fuckupable" has a romance subplot that doesn't chugg eggs and sets up for a sequel/the universe. Normies don't give a fuck about the Master Chief so I don't know why he's even a selling point for the show when they need to lay so much groundwork for the character to be interesting to people.

They definitely checked the box for stupid ass. commander giving the worst possible orders.
