Joyner Lucas wants Lollapalooza to put some respect on his name. The independent rapper took to Twitter to blast the music festival, which announced its 2022 roster on Tuesday, for his placement in this years lineup. These festivals is gon stop playing with me like I aint that n****, Joyner wrote. Putting my name next to the names of a bunch of random n***** that nobody heard of and offering me a weak ass [bag]. He continued, N***** is gon start putting respek on my name. For years I been getting these weak ass offers like Im some lil n****. Then n***** who aint even on my level or doing my numbers is getting put in BIG LETTERS while they write my shit hella small on the flier! How sway?!! Lucas went on to maintain that hes the biggest independent artist period, before demanding that Lollapalooza take his name off the festival flyer. Im the biggest independent artist period with the exception of my n**** tech, he wrote. And I got the numbers & the fans & the [bag] to back that statement up. How is it that these festivals keep tryna bunch my name up with a bunch of n***** who aint on my level?. N**** Im JOYNER LUCAS. All I know is @lollapalooza better take my fuckin name off that flier, Joyner added. I aint agree to that lineup and I dont want that weak ass [bag] n***** tried to give me. Next thing I kno the flier goes out and they gon put my name in some tiny ass letter like i aint me. Fuck outta here! Joyner ended his rant by taking a stray shot at Machine Gun Kelly, who is among the headliners for this years festival.

Then you got this goofy ass n**** headlining? he captioned a picture of MGK. Smh how sway? From there, he referenced Eminem going at MGK on his 2018 diss track Killshot, writing, Someone said Dont bring out the rap devil. Maaaaannnn listen. Lol What my brother Marshall did to this n***a @machinegunkelly is light compared to whats waiting if he wanna walk down that street wit me. Aint nobody worried bout a n**** who paints his nails. Foh.

This isn't a good look, but Joyner Lucas has definitely been working with a lot of big people for years and has made himself a solid fanbase. I only recognize a few names in the smaller lettering and they're nowhere near as outhere as he is.

I'm not just gonna hate cause he's a dickhead sometimes. If he feels he knows his worth and they're trying to play him short, he should speak up. Maybe be a lil more humble tho. Otherwise you get the people who don't really care wanting him to fail just for being arrogant.

But at the end of the day, you would also be upset if you had the numbers and attention and they were trying to pay you less than everyone with the same numbers. You don't wanna be the sucker in the room.

This is dumb on so many levels.

1) who gives a fuck about Lollapalooza in 2022?
2) For the millionth time, MGK wasn't "destroyed" by Eminem -- he had a super loyal fanbase and could've still been making rap music had that been what he wanted to do. He clearly wanted to go a different route, and he was into pop punk type stuff since he was a teen.
3) MGK is hugely relevant right now, considering he's consistently been picking fights with groups of people miraculously even cringier than him. He's getting lots of controversy which means a lot of attention.
4) Who gives a fuck about the lettering size? I saw a fest recently where DEVO was in small letters. Seeing that made me realize that shit doesn't matter AT ALL.
5) Who the hell is Joyner Lucas?

Joyners the shit tbh. Dude consistently puts out quality content.

Neither of them did anything. It was two "meh" songs featuring an over the hill white rapper and a shitty white rapper.

I'm going to put my own opinions aside and try to look at it objectively.

Sorry but NIN wins going away. 5 of DEVO's listings are outside of the top 100 from a different era, leaving only 3 to make the top 100. NIN has 8 Billboard top 100 charts. The only chart DEVO ever topped at was once in Australia, never even topped the dance chart. NIN tops the Alt list in America 4 times and in Canada 3 times

To top it off, DEVO has one gold album and one platinum album. NIN has a 4x platinum, 3x platinum, 2x platinum and a gold album. To top it all off they're a more recent act too.

It was Riot Fest 2021. We're also talking about a fest that was typically geared towards pop punk / punk subgenres in the past. In no way were Coheed and Cambria, Lupe Fiasco, NIN, MGK, or Faith No More more worthy than DEVO in regards to anything punk related.
