used to work at a warehouse. i quit because:

  • the pay was bad
  • the workload was too much
  • i kept being assigned tasks that were not my job
  • they wanted to make these corporate changes that would have made my job 10x harder

i put my 2 weeks on the spot without a job lined up, couldn't take it. thankfully i landed a new job pretty quick.

Management was crap. They cut staff bonuses by half but left theirs untouched.

Shit was disorganized as hell, and the company wasnt doing super great financially. Got the hell out of there and never looked back.

Was let go because the owner was tired of me pretty much. Tried to pin some missing money on me but I proved it was impossible for me to have taken it since I was out of town when it went missing. It was his son that took it, when the owner heard this he said his 18 year old son had no need for extra cash.

My boss cut my hours because I didnt kiss a rude customers ass, but luckily I got an offer from the state because I posted my resume on Indeed :3

I mean honestly, saying something like Eh, I like one apology from him too! isnt going to get you anywhere. Trying to force an apology will only get a half-assed, insincere one, if that. Rather than degrading myself for a shitty fast food job, I gave a zero-assed apology and just walked away :))

The pay was not good.

We got nailed with Covid...like real bad.

Which is to say, we were 'essential' and for w/e reasons, we were the only one taking in returnable bottles and cans in about a 20-mile radius...in upstate NY...so that was a nightmare.

You could get away with some shit though...so that was nice.

But the schedule was full-on trying to fuck with you..that's what did it...
...That and I had another job lined up prior...I was just waiting 'till March when they needed me...but the owner there died. ...I didn't realize she was already sick, and it wasn't really a surprise. I told someone who worked there that I applied, and they were like, of fuck ya...come back.

So, I left that job for a bunch of reasons.

I no longer needed to work two jobs. I cut the one that I was unhappy with.

I like doing work. If there's no work. I like to go home. This was especially true when working multiple jobs. Even 15 minutes was precious to me. Instead, they'd just outright waste my time. My current job essentially let's me come and go as I deem necessary.

It was my final semester of college and I had to confront the boogeyman I'd put off for my entire college career: Microbiology. I knew I couldn't handle that (plus all my other classes) and working, so I took a leave of absence. My boss was super cool about it though; she told me that I could have my job back once classes were over.

So, I graduated (got an A in Micro for good measure and overall magna cum laude) and I fully planned to go back, work for a few months, and look for a post-college job in the meantime. I figured it would take four, five months tops to find something even if it was just doing grunt work in a corporate lab for $10/hr.

Then about... two weeks after graduation my wife* demanded that we immediately move closer to her work. So, I did. Figured, "Okay, I was probably going to find a job here anyway." Funny thing is that because I didn't go back to work, I had a six month gap in my employment at that point. Right now, in 2022, that's not the end of the world. This was 2015 though and it proved to be impossible to find anything. I couldn't even get McDonald's to give me a call back. A six month gap turned into year, into two, and eventually I found myself six and a half years post college with zero employment in the meantime. Did some tremendously shitty things to my mental health. I was also financially abused the entire time.

I'm getting out from under it now though. I got a lucky break and got a job that pays decently. No one controls me anymore. I will never quit a job without an immediate replacement nor will I let anyone sweet talk me into giving up a job because they'll pay for everything. I'll put up with any bullshit from a job if it means financial freedom.

Last job (my first job) was retail and basically something to gain spending money through college. It was a small store and most of the people there were chill so it wasn't that bad relatively speaking. Once I landed a job in my field (CS) I did both jobs for a time but then dropped the retail one after realizing I wanted my weekends back.

I accepted another job and I just could not stand where I was working (not a bad job but a bad fit for my skills).

However I'm still unemployed even now because they never let me start due to a government clearance requirement. That is still ongoing but I've had to start looking for more work.

I've only ever had one job and I'm still working at it.

I have no intentions to quit (not that it's the easiest thing to amicably quit the military). I'll stay so long as they'll have me.

Could I create a pros/cons list and use that as justification to not re-enlist? Sure

I worked as a Ride Operations Lead Supervisor at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I quit because:

  1. Got tired off driving 6 days a week to and from Williamsburg from Richmond, VA for 3 years
  2. Got tired of getting screamed at by my superiors and guests
  3. pay was shit even in 2007
  4. was never ever going to get promoted above lead supervisor

They didn't treat anyone like adults, it was all being treated like we were the lowest common denominator which I somewhat get for a large business.

Plus I thought they were doing some shady stuff, but it's technically legal under the law relating to open enrollment and who gets an appointment to talk to reps versus who doesn't.

Worked as an armed security guard.
- great pay
- terrible benefits
- hard to use vacation days, usually cashed them out at the end of the year
- was incredibly boring
- worked almost every holiday

Earned a degree and left. Make about the same, but I have benefits and I can take leave whenever I want.
