I'm trying to beat that but the Big Cryo slimes are being a bastard. On one of the levels, i get to the last enemy with over a minute left, but can't manage to deal enough damage to beat it.

Oh, Xiangling is extremely good against cryo slimes. Pyronado combined with Guoba will destroy their shields fast. Then just clean up with any other DPS you have. Constellations help but are by no means necessary.

The key to using Xiangling is to give her lots of ER so you can use Pyronado a lot. Equip the Emblem artifact set and give her The Catch as a weapon and you're golden.

I'm assuming you don't have Sucrose/Venti/Kazuha right? If not then bring anemo Traveler so you can take advantage of the leyline.

Save Amber's burst for the cryo slimes; claymore/geo characters are also effective. You can also swirl pyro/electro slimes if they are near them to cause reactions and remove the shields faster.

For the last floor it's just a matter of having enough investment and dps. Use anemo Traveler and swirlable elements like Kaeya's burst to cause reactions on them.

Xiangling is the best because

1 - The combined scaling of The Catch, Emblem of Severed Fate, Bennett's buff / Pyro Resonance and Tartaglia applying hydro instantly
2 - She's extremely cheap to build / F2P friendly and even at C0 is viable (and is basically complete at C4). Her best weapon is literally F2P.
3 - Her best team comps have among the lowest investment costs in the game, but scale wildly with high investment (Tartaglia)

Trust me, though. I didn't build Xiangling until like a few months ago because I thought the same thing. But the reality is that she's absolutely ridiculously OP. She makes all the other Pyro characters (at least in AOE situations) look like a joke. And she has no energy issues at all with Emblem of Severed Fate + The Catch since both add ER, and Bennett + Guoba are constantly shoveling her energy.

I don't know how many hours i've put into that spiral abyss, but i finally did it

New Spiral Abyss.
Part 1 Kokomi Taser, Part 2 Ayaka Freeze.
36*'d without too much trouble outside of the final part where I had to figure out how to group up the pyro bastards properly.

I figure F12-3 is a nightmare without Ayato, Tartaglia, Kokomi, Mona or Xingqiu on one side and a freezer like Ayaka on the other.

Going to get some heat for this, but having tested tartaglia and ayato, I've come to the conclusion at least for me that tartaglia is generally a better on-field main DPS.

From what I can gather, Ayatos simpler to use while Childe is harder but has a higher skill ceiling.

That seems like a fair way to put it. Childe also has a significantly more narrow party selection, but the ones that work with him tend to have higher damage output than Ayato's more generalist strengths.

Childe + Xiangling is basically unstoppable murder, but requires a well-oiled rotation of Bennett -> Xiangling -> Childe timing that someone like Ayato wouldn't have to worry about.

Ayato + Xiangling just doesn't work as well. I dunno if it's timing or Ayato's ICDs.

WELP that's all my luck for the next lifetime.

Used all the fates from the Abyss today on the weapon banner and literally pulled an Elegy and a Haran Geppaku within 10 pulls of each other.

I am so freakin hyped for Yelan, I might even buy C1 to unlock her frontloaded main dps potential coz she fires strong AoE charged attacks and skills so fast, and can flood them at the start of the fight.
After all that is used up, she can go into the background to act as Xingqiu for your pyro main dps.

I really like Yelan's design. Her kit could be the shittiest kit and I'd still use her. Don't know if I'll pull through. There's a Kazuha rerun on the horizon.

It was a stupid change anyway, basically made her C2 pointless.

But I'm going to be frank - she's not a very well designed character. She can do a lot of damage, and I like her, but they seriously need to rethink how she fits into team compositions.

Yelan C2 cooldown reduced to 2.8 sec from 3 sec (guarantee it will fire as intended)
Sounds like Mihoyo is pretty satisfied if that was the only change

Ubatcha confirms Yelan's skill does not have quadratic scaling (all explosions are single target, so no Venti/Kazuha grouping hijinx)

Raiden's burst activates Yelan's burst.

Yelan's burst will only hit the final enemy you tagged with the skill.

Yelan can pre-funnel her burst (does this mean she can absorb particles during burst?)

Yelan's skill can reach into Venti's burst (holy crap, that's a long reach)

There's broken, and then there's Venti Broken.

Although you can tell from the pyro lectors that MiHoYo is trying to make him less op while still being useful by having a weight class that can be crowd controlled but not stun locked by his burst.

Pre-funnel to my knowledge means you cast the particle-granting skill before you cast the burst so the burst will be filled by those particles.

e.g. Venti skill going into Venti burst

You get a bonus for wearing 2 artifacts of the same set, and an additional bonus if you're wearing 4 pieces of the set.

Artifacts usually have two different bonuses that you can get from equipping multiple ones from the same set, one from having two of them and one from having four of them.

The four piece set is usually stronger but more specialized.

Can't help but feel like people don't want to admit it, but it's becoming increasingly clear that Ayato is at best a side grade to tartaglia unless he has high constellations. All that hype mostly came from folks who didn't use Tartaglia.

Just finished Ayato's quest. Dude is the most legit INTJ character I've seen in a video game in basically forever. He's basically Sherlock - emotionless (but will feign warmth when needed), calculating, generally on the "good side" but also someone you would never want to cross.

So I really really wanted to hate Ayato because he looks like an insufferable prettyboy, but instead his story quest was the best-written and executed story in all of Genshin Impact.

It was almost like an episode of Sherlock filtered through the lens of Genshin's world.

Probably more than any other character I'm not sure what their intended use for her is. Even when people were complaining about Kokomi it was obvious what they were going for but Yae is just so awkward to fit into most comps. Hopefully dendro enables something in her kit

there's one thing i don't fully understand.
when i was doing the Spiral Abyss, i noticed that the damage output on the Giant Slimes seemed inconsistent.

like one moment, i'm spamming attacks, and doing like 5% damage, next moment, they just instantly go down to zero and pop.

is there some pattern i'm missing here?
i didn't feel like i was doing anything different one moment to the next

Ayato looks nicer than Childe, but that's to be expected.
He is also easier to play. Remember that one of the negative points of Childe is that he requires brain to play.

Whenever the game allow me to use Childe, I for one cannot keep the cooldown in my head and prefer to just go melee every time, really. Less braincells needed.

That's mostly C0 Childe. One of the things his constellations do is give you more flexibility so you don't have to be so exact when timing when to switch out. Two of his constellations are more QoL than DPS improvements.

At C0 Childe probably beats out Ayato significantly but you need really precise timing and the right characters to swap out. Childe has higher potential DPS but it's much easier to get high DPS out of Ayato. At higher constellations Childe requires less precision but Ayatoyalso gets buffed more so their damage potential becomes more equal.

It sounds like you're probably right, DarkRoast, that at C6 it's basically a lateral move between the two of them. Childe has a slightly higher damage ceiling, but Ayato has slightly more flexibility.

Elemental reactions? Like, hydro -> pyro = 2x damage, same for pyro -> cryo. Pyro slimes lose their element when you douse them, too.

Also there are various buffs and debuffs depending on what floor and what room you're in.

not really, like one moment i'm doing all the right elemental reactions and it does some damage, sure, but not that much, next moment i'm doing the exact same thing, and it's like popping a balloon

another thing to consider, pay attention to your buffs.

Like if Barbara has Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers and you switch from her to your dps char, he'll do a lot more damage.

Just fyi average whale price for a C6 on rare up is around $1000. And that's just the character not the weapon.

Oh I know, I did C6 Eula although I got lucky with that. I probably won't do it but if she's really fun to play idk

I know yall were shitting on Shinobu before but I'm kinda hyped for her. Probably mainly due to my severe lack of Electro and desperation for badass ninjas. Being a healer with almost 100% skill uptime at c2 would make her kinda more helpful than Bennett or Jean in a few teams for me.

I want to maybe prefarm Millelith artifacts, just not sure how hard I should go on EM since reactions seem to be her main source of damage. Maybe at least one EM artifact and EM weapon, and 2 HP artifacts?
