Comic shop

my housemates never wanna do ANYTHING. Just wanna watch movies, individually, in their rooms. Or play games by themselves. Never wanna go out and do stuff. I feel like Im living with 40 year old divorced men and not guys around my age

Ive never even played DND before. Generally speaking, should I drop by this comic place during the work week and ask what Ill need for the game?

Most comic book places do encounter Wednesdays. Those are really basic modules that are good for getting new people, which would be perfect for you.

Also, you'd really need a pencil, eraser, and a set of dice(d20, d12, d10, d8, d6, d4, percentile dice), which most comic book stores should have. Most stores will have extra characters for newcomers to use, so you shouldn't need a character rolled up.

I have never played at a comic shop before. But, I highly recommend playing D&D to make new friends. It is how I met my current group of friends. We started a group with random people from work, and are going strong two years later. Currently my best friends now, and we mix it up with axe throwing, bowling, or some other activities every week.

You should be able to find free, or cheap digital players manuals online. Dndbeyond has free basic rules manual you can check out. For me the easiest way to learn, was to just jump in and start playing.

That was fun

I played a dark elf ranger who wore a shawl over his face, and when he smiles from under it, you can see his creepy cheekbones rising

I abstained from going into a fighting pit with 3 of my other party members (we were in a human town, and my rationale was Human customs are incredibly barbaric, but Ill still wager money) but when one of them was 1 HP from death, I jumped down to help, losing the cash I bet. But the fight was over before I could even act!

I prefer monster of the week. My husband has been home brewing an SCP based campaign and it's some of the most fun I've had doing some of the nerdiest shit in my life.

Dnd is just too much math. I prefer narrative to numbers.

Need to try a different system like Blades in the Dark or Lazars and Feelings

Hey, as long as it's fun let people enjoy their fun.

Also, Blades in the Dark being too little math? You have to do your damn taxes at the end of every score!

A lot of it also comes down to what the group wants as a whole, if you all agree on a rules light version, you can cut out as much of the maths as you choose to.

Still better then trying to figure out your stats, rolls and bonuses every turn.

I'm damn surprised you add stat+bonus every time you roll to attack, you do know you can preemptively do the math so it's a static number that's added to a d20 roll, right? You don't need to redo it every single time you attack.

Or Monster of the Week, which is what we play. Every roll is 2D6, stats are simple, and you dont sit there and do math. It's literally counting to 12 and no higher for any roll.

Most of the time, yes. There are exceptions where your stats end up fluctuating every other turn due to whatever buffs and nerfs are flying about (Curse of Strahd anyone?)
