I honestly haven't been paying too much attention to this debate and would like to understand it better. I generally am very liberal and supportive of trans people, but I can see how them competing in women's sports can be an issue. Would like to know what the argument supporting her competing is.

People who know a whole lot more about biology, hormones, and competitive swimming than anyone who has ever posted in any of these topics decided certain rules that need to be followed for trans women to be allowed to compete as a woman. Lia followed all those rules and won.

This board is horrendous for discussing this particular issue, 90% of the discourse is people screaming OMG TRANSPHOBIA if anyone questions it. Reddit surprisingly had some great discussion in the comments under this particular swimmer's news articles, people who actually talked about the issue in good faith.

So what is the "ideal" amount of amp someone should have? 50? 100? 250? 500? 1000? Over 9000?

Also protip to TC, post in stickies to farm a permanent base of AMP. That way way people won't complain about low amp.

If anything Lia dropped in rankings when she transitioned meaning she's working harder than ever to still be way worse. Especially when you compare her times which aren't better than before. :l

the real question, i think, isn't "does she have an unfair advantage" but rather "does that matter at all"

like, yeah she is winning a lot: is she taking anything of substance away from her opponents with those wins? i would argue she is not. swimming is not exactly a high-viewership sport.

i think(hope) no one is arguing that her transition isn't legitimate--it was two years ago that she came out and she competed as a man, despite being out, while undergoing HRT.

if trans women are not to be considered women just so that other women who are also at the peak of their physical prowess can win a trophy, why do we even have women's sports? the reason I understood was 'to empower women' but stripping her of her identity--one she has clearly gone through a lot for--would be doing the exact opposite.
