I'm watching a playthru from Game Grunps and they just got to the part where they are in the Funhouse.

It seems really stupid in comparison to the first one.

I think the first one is the best but 2 is still fun.

Ultra Despair Girls is the worst one.

But if you meant out of the main series... yeah, probably 2, though this is a "it's still really good; it's just the least good of the three" situation.

Worst is Ultra Despair Girls or V3 if you don't count the former.

The only reason why it may seem like the worst is because the game grump's playthrough of it is terrible

Tjhey talk over important cues, dont pay attention to any of it, and constantly use a walkthrough

I thought 2 was considered the best. I struggle to choose a personal favourite though. They all have bits that make me go "eh well I don't want to call this one the best".

Yeah, the Grumps are pretty checked out of this playthrough and clearly only doing it because the first game was such a success for their channel. They're skipping all the Free Time and not even hiding that they're following a walkthrough every step of the trials.

Dan is at least getting a little invested, but Arin couldn't give less of a shit if he was constipated. Arin cares so little that he admitted to reading ahead in the walkthrough and spoiling Nekomaru turning into Mechamaru.

As for my own personal opinion, I feel like 2 had the best cast, but the worst story.

Arin clearly trying to rush through the game as fast as possible is the worst part of this playthrough. Wish Dan was playing, since he's at least interested in the whole thing and not just the characters.

Nah, it's considered the best one by many fans, though Chapters 4, 5, and 6 carry the game HARD, IMO.

The Funhouse seems stupid at first but it gets pretty interesting since you start learning some things about what's going on.

So far the story is horribly convoluted and I dunno, silly compared with the first one?

1 is easily the worst one

I heard they were playing through the games. Its hard to say which is worse. I want to say 2 is, but I really like so elf the characters. Especially Gundham But either way, I think V3 is the best

2 had some of the best cases in the series, but overall was the most vapid. In that line it's a game that is far more interesting to play than it is to watch as the craziness is less jarring when you are caught up in it all.

Id go

1 > 2 > V3 > UDG

the first game was pretty ridiculous too tbh, second game just doesn't try to hide it really. I kinda like how they don't really beat around the bush with some big "reveals"

Without spoiling I'll just say there's a good reason why 2 seems way more silly and bizarre.

CE apparently has awful takes on Danganronpa. 2 is the best.

I liked 3 the best, but with this series, being the worst one is meaningless when they are all so good

Agreed!

2 is only somewhat worse than 1, imo. 1 is weighed down by the MC does everything thing.

V3 is the best because each character actually contributes to the actual cases and have good arguments and reasons for the most part.

2 definitely has the lamest story though. And characters. Besides a main character with a backbone, dunno how anyone would think its the best.

V3 is let down by the ending

But yeah, on the topic of the Game Grumps playthrough...I pretty much watch every video they ever put out, but if it wasn't for Dan actually being invested in the game and liking the characters I probably wouldn't watch it. Arin seems clearly disinterested in the game, especially when his actual favorites get killed off.

Seeing today's episode...I'm actually gonna agree with them on how stupid the Funhouse exploration is, lol. I felt the same way when I first played the game.

2 has more interesting characters, a more interesting setting, more complex cases with cooler things going on, etc. 1 feels like a shell of a game in comparison

the majority of 1's characters barely even exist. they're like 1-liner character archetype cliches

but well, whatever. kinda a silly thing to argue about. different people have different tastes. I'm just absolutely baffled since I've never seen someone with this opinion before and now there's more than one in this very topic

2 has worse exploration, worse minigames (especially Hangman's Gambit), "more complex" doesn't mean the cases are necessarily better (often it just means they're longer), and the ending is complete and utter nonsense that is presented in the most confusing and overly-stretched-out way possible

Like I said above, I agree that 2 has the best cast out of the trilogy, but it easily has the worst story. It's terribly paced with a terribly written ending.

Ultra Despair Girls > V3 > Trigger Happy Havoc > Goodbye Despair

GD isn't bad at all. It probably has the strongest cast and it undoubtedly has the best case in the series and a couple of other good ones. It also has the least awful case 3 in the franchise, so I guess that's a plus.

I just can't get over how much the atmosphere lets it down. Going through the claustrophic school grounds and the eerieness of it is kind of core to my enjoyment of Danganronpa I find. It's the best in 1 but also good in 3. Obviously 2 just straight up doesn't have that and it hurts it so much. The terrible sidescroller traversal doesn't help either. And I get there's a point to it, it's trying a different form of eerie where you aren't weighted down by the heaviness of it, but by the expectation of the shot that breaks the facade. That isn't bad, but I just really wish it had what 1 has.

Also, the world needs to stop hating on Monomi. Monomi is wonderful. Love! Love!

I suppose so. Compared to DR1, 2 didn't have any characters that I outright disliked, and if it did it killed them off like immediately (Teruteru).

This is true of literally every Danganronpa character that's killed before chapter 4

90% of them never do anything. If anything, they had potential.

Also like, I guess I can get that the ending was so out there, but I had a fairly easy time understanding it. It was more mind-blowing to me.

For games, I do think I liked 2 the best. With the exception of Debate scrums and Mass panic, which are only in V3. But I liked 2s hangmans gambit, since it felt like more of a game than 1s. V3s was also good. I like the rhythm game better than 1s, as well I think the comics were about the same for those two Logic dive was ok, but I think psyche taxi might be better. But the cubes could take a while to get Though there is a skill for that

Both DR1 and V3 Hangman's Gambit are barely a game. Letter come across the screen horizontally or directly at you and you click them. DR2 Hangman's Gambit is an actual minigame where you do things and you (sometimes) have to think about things. It's much more enjoyable. Yeah it goes a bit overboard near the end, there's one particular one in I think case 5 that is just flicking all the shit at you, but overall it's a great experience. In general the worst minigames are the ones that are just fucking nothings like other Hangman's and Imagination Excavation in 3. The exception being Psyche Taxi which is absolutely not nothing, but is a giant something awful that takes forever. Easily the worst minigame in the franchise.

I don't get pretending that 1's ending isn't beyond stupid. It's less cartoony I guess. If you can call a high school girl destroying the world any sort of realistic. But it really is terrible. 2's might be a worse version of that (undecided) but instead of making that drivel the star of the show it focues on the characters and that makes it so much better.
