That one hotel in San Francisco with an elevator that has glass walls is a nightmare (I guess thats why they used it in the movie High Anxiety.) The longer you were spinning, the longer vertigo will last. It usually settles down after a minute. If none of this applies to you, then you may have a pathology. I recommend consulting a physician. First 24 hours were the worst for me with constant dizziness and throwing up, then it gradually got better during a 3-4 week period but I had difficulty balancing when walking.
