I am a late 20's male who is overweight at 5'7 l56 lbs. My natural weight two years ago was 135 lbs. Then I gained weight(being lazy+not going out+eating a lot during the pandemic) to the point where I capped at 165lbs.

For some months, I dedicated myself to losing weight and managed to get to 156lbs. Yet for the past two weeks, I have been unable to lose more weight. Why?

-I eat only 1200 calories a day
-I drink lots of water(8 cups daily)
-I walk everyday for 30-40 min

I'm trying to get back to being skinny! I want to get a defined jawline. For my face fat to go away, and for my belly to slim down. Yet despite eating drastically less than I used to, I haven't lost anything!

You're not overweight at that height/weight

That's a pretty normal, if not healthy, weight

Its not for me! When I was 135 lbs, I had a more defined jawline! I looked better looking!

Now I look like a fat piece of crap with a belly hanging! I want to become skinny again like in my teens/early 20's! When I look at photos of myself at my current weight, my face is FAT!

No! I went on a sub reddit several months ago and asked if I should lift weights too, and they told me I should lose all the weight first. So as a result, I stuck to walking daily and lowering calorie intake dramatically!

If you can't increase the duration, try increasing the intensity of the cardio so you're breaking a sweat at the very least. If you're unable to run, or don't have access to an elliptical/treadmill try interspersing jogging within your standard walk.

That's a spectacularly terrible idea. Weights give you the definition you want, especially in your neck/shoulders, which shape your jaw. At 5'7, 156, you have a healthy BMI and are probably paunchy because of lack of muscletone and possibly crap in your gut from too little fiber.

Up your calories a little bit (about 1,500), focus on protein and do some gentle lifting. If nothing else, add bodyweight movements to your daily activities.

Also, what are you eating? 1,200 calories of cheese sandwich and lemonade don't go as far as 1,200 calories of chicken thighs and roasted vegetables.

Are you only drinking water? Soda and sugary drinks will hinder your progress.

I am 5'4" and weight 167 lbs. I want to get to my old weight of 145. My wife and I bought a peloton. I ride for at least 30 minutes a day, sometimes an hour. The first 10 lbs came off easy. Now its a dance where I only lose maybe a half pound a day, sometimes none. I am not gaining any though. I eat mostly chicken and fish, brown rice and lots of veggies. I cut out all soda and beer. I only drink water. It will take some doing. I have been at it for about 3 weeks now, just do not get discouraged or give in. That initial big weight loss was most likely water weight. the rest will go a lot slower.

-I walk everyday for 30-40 min

If that 30-40 min is at a relaxed pace then that walk doesn't really do anything. You're keeping your heartrate relaxed so you're really not burning any fat.

Do interval cardio. It's amazing for weight loss.

I'm 5'8" and I've been in the 150 range pretty much all throughout my teenage years and early college. I don't eat a lot of healthy stuff, but I've never had an issue with overeating. I'm 29 now and my average weight's gained like...ten pounds lol. So not a huge jump but I'm feelin' it alright. I've also been type 1 diabetic since 11 so the fact that my metabolism was still working at maximum overdrive all throughout my teens and early adult years is a wonder in of itself.

It's not healthy. With some of my shirts, my gut becomes visible or hangs out. While my shoulders are narrow. And my face is fat.

When I was between 125-135lbs, I looked much better looking. From having a slimer jaw, to face, etc. Yet now I'm way too big for my height. When I look in photos of myself, I literally see myself as fat.

Muscle is more metabolically active than fat. You'll burn more calories the more lean muscle mass you have... and if you're somehow fat at that height and weight you have like zero muscle mass. Go lift some shit.

Don't look at photos then lol. It's an illusion. In the mirror I look good, in photos I look horrible. Realistically, probably somewhere in-between the two.

Are you willing to post a body pic? It's a bit difficult to suggest things without actually seeing where you're at, especially since your stats don't sound bad at all.

30 to 40 minutes walking is only about 200 calories. And if you otherwise sit on your butt all day, that really is very little calories burned overall. Now 30 to 40 minutes running can be 400 to 500 calories for your weight

Regarding your calories, how much artificial sugar are you taking in. Also watch the carbs. If you are a drinker try to tone it down. Ideally you dont want to be drinking at all, but its also ok if you limit yourself to social drinking only.

Also you have hit a plateau. Walking is great. But if you want to see more change you need to increase your intensity. Either go for longer walks or start running instead.

I dont know what exercises would help. You probably need to work the muscles in that area. My husband has lost weight but his gut just wont go away. But youre younger so maybe you have a better chance of getting it toned.

I'm currently in my late 20's and realize that right now I look WAY worse than I did in my early 20's. So back then, I didn't appreciate how much better I looked! While now..my metabolism has slowed down dramatically..can't eat as freely as I used to, hair loss, etc

Start sprinting. Not walking, running, jogging... sprinting. Go to a soccer field or something and run the length of it as fast as you can. Take a little break and do it again. You'll likely puke and that's normal.

Cut out soda if you drink it regularly. Start doing push-ups. Doesn't matter if you start at 2 or 20. If you have access to weights, even better.

This is the bare minimum. There's other things to do but what's mentioned above are simple to start with and if you can't even stick to them, you're likely not serious about wanting to make a change.
