It can't explode because the reactors have been shut down for 20 years. The spent fuel rods are in a storage pool that is heating up without power to pump the water, but the IAEA doesn't believe that the loss of power poses an imminent threat.

Oh yeah, there's a lot of tension about radiation right now. On the other end of the scale, you have people who say that nuclear attacks aren't a big deal because nuclear fallout would only be a problem for two weeks.

It wouldn't explode all of Europe, but it could still contaminate a bunch of it... Again.
