Coconut milk is nice for cooking though, admittedly I dont generally think of that as a straight dairy replacement*

Lactaid milk I always called dessert milk, its much more sweet and quite nice on cereal.

Most of the nut ones taste like slightly off skim milk imo, I had an ex that was seriously lactose intolerant so Ive tried most of this stuff.

Ripple is super good. Really high in protein.
Never heard or seen ripple. If I have seen it, it may have been super jacked up to an unreasonable price that I wouldn't consider it, but seeing two people say they like it I might consider it.

I like plant based milks because they're usually lower in calories and I don't care about their flavor since I typically use them in my protein shakes. They often have more benefits and do a better job than just using water. Obviously I could use cow milk but then that's calorie loaded.

But to add to discussion, I don't mind oatmilk, could even use it for cereal. But it depends on the batch, sometimes it can come out...slimy? Is the best way I can describe it. Even if it's not close to being expired.

Coconut almond milk has been solid for my protein smoothies and it adds a nice flavor to them.

But on to even more discussion, usually the gallon jugs that they sell at the super market of milk are honestly trash compared to farmer's market milk. I've bought milk from them and that shit is GOOD. But they charge a lot for it probably because they know it's quality. It's been like 6-8 dollars for a 2 liter bottle I believe. Absolutely insane. But I buy it on occasion as a treat for myself.

I'm fine with plant-based for cereal, coffee, drinking, etc.

Plant-based sucks ass for most cooking, baking, and cheese. I've got to have real buttermilk to make my pancakes or they turn out wrong.

Tell that to my gf's body who constantly has stomach issues whenever he drinks or eats dairy, but refuses to stop. She is always on the toilet after eating cheese.

Has your girlfriend tried switching to harder cheese?

I've got a friend who will feel all kinds of sick if he eats a soft or semi-soft cheese but isn't bothered by harder cheese. A slice of munster, brie or American "cheese" will mess him up, but a very sharp cheddar, aged provolone or parmesan doesn't bother him much, if at all.

Probably doesn't work for everyone, but might help her eat cheese without destroying your toilet.

As someone who usually has a healthier cereal for breakfast and occasionally a sugar one for a snack in the evening, I haven't bought cow milk in years. Silk unsweetened oat for omelettes and healthy cereal and Silk unsweetened cashew for snack cereals. Last much longer and isn't nearly as sweet or salty.

It works well enough if the plant milk has enough fat in it, so one like soy or nut would be better than oat or rice.

Been using plant based milks exclusively since 2017. Haven't looked back. I'm not lactose intolerant. They just taste better, are better for you, better for the environment, the better ethical choice and last longer without going bad to boot. For me personally, I have no reason to get milk from a cow or a goat or whatever people still drink

Also dairy milk causes other issues even if you're not lactose intolerant. It can lower your testosterone, give you acme, make you have too much phlegm, etc

Unsweetened almond milk here. It's really tough to go back to milk, even skim, once you get used to the texture of plant-based milks. Whole milk has the texture of snotty motor oil and even 1% or less has very slimy texture to it.

Oat is basically like taking the liquid out of a bowl of oatmeal and condensing it, it's nice with coffee. Coconut is rich and creamy, good for sauces. Almond tastes very watery.

Soy is my favorite. The one I get is vanilla with a low amount of sugar, it tastes great in smoothies and cereals.

I can see the signs all over that article; the propaganda is going to start moving toward: you're a bad person if you consume dairy.

Plant based stuff can be such crap too. Low to nonexistent in fat content while overly high in sodium and sugar. It's not healthier for you. It is also questionably better for the environment (stuff like almonds use a shit load of water, tbf, so do cows). Ethically, maybe you've got me there.
Either way, Big Nutrition/Food can fuck right off. They've done nothing but fuck with us as a society since the 90s and before.

Besides those being lactose intolerant you have hormones and anti biotics to deal with as well. Not to mention it still has a decent amount of sugar. You can get calcium, vitamin d from plenty of other sources as well.

Just don't give any attention to people like him. Yeah plant milks aren't 100% perfect, they are relatively processed, depending on the type and brand, but it's way healthier, cheaper, more sustainable, ethical and environmentally friendly than cow's milk. Especially when you consider the fact that at least 9/10 cows are infected with bovine leukemia, which is a cancer causing virus (particularly breast cancer).
