I mean, it's hard to get super hyped for a crossover after the Nick All-Stars debacle, but still, that's an amusingly wild potential roster.

I guess on that note, Velma was just officially confirmed after being leaked.

I'm not even a Harry Potter fan and this feels fucked up. Like of the three isn't she the only one who is notably good at magic?

It could be based on the books and at that point it's somewhat flipped around. She is the most book smart, but being raised by non-magical parents made her far less likely to think of a magical solution than Ron (it was a major plot point all the way through to the fourth book or so). On the other side Harry had various plot boosts to his combat-based magic, making him effectively the "strongest" of the three. Thus Hermione was the weakest in the books.

Its been scientifically proven that any attempts at a Smash Clone need to have an absolutely absurd budget, and none of the attempts have been given one.

Smash Bros captures the entire spirit of the franchises top to bottom because Nintendo gives Sakurai unlimited funding, where all the others end up being shallow, empty experiences where they just throw a few characters on some bland stages with bland music and bland items with bland story modes and no personality since all that shit is usually expensive and time consuming to get the license rights to and implement.

1 - Why don't they know if it's Ralph or Felix if the info was obtained via datamine
2 - Why are we supposed to think that a Warner Bros. game featuring DC characters is able to secure the rights to Disney and Marvel characters

Wow, never heard of this before now. Looked up the reveal trailer and it actually looks pretty cool. Shaggy's voice sounds weird to me, but I haven't actually watched any recent Scooby Doo cartoons, so I don't know if that's his official voice now.

It's also interesting that they're going with the free to play model. Hopefully the monetization isn't too predatory.

To answer 2. PFG has went on record to say that it's not strictly a Warner Bros game.

My guess for #1 is that the name is a placeholder. I know that Naruto's leak in there is codenamed as "Ninja", it's just that there are assets in the data that make it really clear that it's Naruto (symbols related to him/shadow clone data).

For #2, bigger crossovers are en vogue right now. I'm guessing that they got a few characters that Disney okayed for free marketing.

100% You cannot half ass a Smash clone. If Multiversus even wants to have any level of success, you need to throw lots of time and money into the project. Nick All Star Battle suffered massively because the game was originally designed with a shovel ware game in mind, but when the publishers assigned Ludosity to the project they absolutely wanted to do something "unique" (make it a competitive "melee" esque fighter) with the game. The issue was that the game had to be made completely from scratch in less than a year. The only saving grace Ludosity had was that they were able to use the same engine.

Multiversus is doing something interesting, they're prioritizing 2v2 as their main "gimmick". One of the biggest hurdle for fighters in general is the anxiety of playing because it's a 1vs1 game. It's why the most played games in the world are all team based, to take off some of that anxiety. Multiversus is also going into F2P, and if done right, can be pretty revolutionary for a platform fighter. We'll see if they drop the ball or not though, they got a lot to prove.
