Well I wouldn't say I loved it but it was pretty good

Best I know for a fact I haven't beaten is Final Fantasy VII. Got to Disc 3 and wanted to beat the Weapons before doing the final dungeon (Sephiroth sounded very scary when I was young and I wanted to be as prepared as possible) and never managed that.

I'm trying to remember if I ever actually beat Super Mario Bros 3 as a kid - the earliest Mario game I remember actually beating was Yoshi's Island. That would be up there if so.

Hm. First game to come to mind was Valkyrie Profile 2 where I got to the final boss and couldn't beat it so I just said whatever to it. Then got reminded about Lost Odyssey from this topic, kinda the same deal, got to the end and just stopped playing. Uh...same with Tales of Grace's yikes.

I played like an hour of Last of Us if that counts? I couldn't figure out Majora's Mask back in the day and never went back to it either.

Most of what I don't finish I didn't like but those stand out as games I enjoyed though.

I think Final Fantasy VII. I know I got far enough to be able to fight Weapons, but I think I got super disillusioned with Final Fantasy superbosses and the need to grind forever for post-endgame stuff

Maybe I'm reading the prompt wrong, but I wouldn't consider optional bosses required to finish a game

But it's interesting to consider the alternative

Nothing to be ashamed of. VP2 had a brutal final boss. I remember getting my ass kicked, then grinding, then finally winning with a drop of health left in my characters' life bars. Great game.

First thought's Burnout: Paradise City.

Tomba. My first actual game I ever owned. Moved away sp it got put in storage. Cousin that we gave keys to ended up selling it. I own it again now but haven't gotten around to finishing it.

Hmm I think the last game I didnt finish was FFX-2 unless you count not getting more than 1 ending in RE2MAKE as not finishing it. I usually finish games I start even if I end up not liking them.

Horizon Zero Dawn. There was so much clutter on the screen and so many different menus and options I couldn't keep up with what was happening. It's a beautiful game and I recognize I just have to get good, so maybe one day I'll come back to it to play on easy to just enjoy the story and world.

I've had this experience, although it was less about screen clutter and more about so many different game systems and mechanics to keep track of. Inventory management, different types of damage for vulnerability on different enemies, etc.

Failed to finish in the sense that I actually played a lot of it in the first place, probably Xenoblade Chronicles. I'm rectifying that now by playing the Definitive Edition on Switch, but I put a looooot of hours into this game in my life on the Wii yet never actually finished it for some reason.

Super Mario 64 lol. I got a blister in the palm of my while rotating Bowser to hit the third and final spike bomb thing, lost, and never went back to it

Game very close to not finishing this one as well. The Wii version released two months before I started grad school, and I somehow finished this bad boy in that timespan.
