And one could say being dependent on the US for security has actually weakened Europe and made them complacent and this attack on Ukraine is a giant wakeup call that made NATO look irrelevant when everyone just stood around letting Russia attack and waiting to see what the US would do.

And Trump's fat , UGLY ass was not making a good point when he drew attention to how other NATO nations aren't even paying their fair share of the budget , and tbh it was offensive for his orange man boobs to even suggest they should pay what they agreed to and do their part to secure their own continent. Trump warned Europe that their dependence on Russian energy was a security threat and he increased American energy production so we could cut back on imports from Russia that are making Putin rich, which is how he's facetanking these sanctions. Guess what, who gives a shit?

This is why Joe Biden ignoring Putins demands for a guarantee Ukraine would not be allowed into NATO has nothing to do with this invasion, and the fact Putin said he would do this for months while the world collectively shrugged Doesn't Matter because DJT wants to bone his Daughter. It's disgusting how politics have devolved over the past two decades. George W. Bush's response to the attacks on the World Trade Center had a 90% approval rating at the time -- an approval rating which rapidly dwindled, but one which showed it was possible to approve of something across bipartisan lines.

Today, literally everything a politician says is wrong to the opposing side. This is extremely dangerous because conservatives are now courting horrific ideologies to spite "the libs." Siding with Russia? Siding with white supremacists? Siding with police brutality. Blame Biden! This wouldn't have happened if Trump were still president.

in this instance, so far it seems fine? I don't see that the republicans are (generally) giving Biden crap for how he's taking care of things. he's toeing the line of being tough while trying to avoid war, and I don't think the GOP seems particularly keen on actually fighting a full-fledged war with Russia, and so I don't see much complaining from people who matter. I think the GOP has been (on the whole) pretty reasonable with condemning Russia, while also being nervous about a full-on war, which is the same place Biden is in.

That said, the people blaming Biden for this war are shitheads and I think they need to shut the hell up. It's not Biden's fault whatsoever, and he's handling it quite well. This is why (some) people are getting on him about this nonsense. When there are legitimate complaints, they should be voiced. When people are just railing on the other side because they are the other side is when its very problematic, and both sides have been/are guilty of this. That is the part that needs to be cut out.
